A couple years ago, my girlfriend and I were out for cocktails on Valentine’s day when a middle-aged man bought us a plate of appetizers for free. When we asked about it, he said, “She’s glowing for you. I wish my wife felt that way still.”

It’s always stuck with me, that moment. That unapologetic look at one’s own life, one’s own wife. Stay golden, keep glowing.

Let it drop. Let it all drop. Let it go and sink into the water. And do not worry about sending the distress call. We’ll follow the screams.

We carried all the groceries in while we hauled out all the trash.
And if this doesn’t make us motionless I do no know what can.

I love this line in Spitting Venom. By the way, if done properly, all groceries you buy will indeed end up as shit. Very human, no?

Is this a joke? Some sort of meta-linguist nonsense? Misspelled is misspelled, not mispelled. I hate when I misspell mispell. Why would there be a word so hard to remember how to spell, about spelling?

Rusted, rotting, and smelled a mixture of stale petrichor and death; the hole into the subterranean nothingness beneath the stadium was a welcome change from the chaos from above.

It was a long, long, long time until anything green grew there again.
The Almighty had had his look, and merely shrugged.
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

The Almight had his look, and did not despair, merely shrugged.

Bustling busboys and barhopping bastards. The bars at airports are a thing to behold: the classy, the carefree, the caustic, And me, the one quietly drinking to stop the nagging fear.

All that glitters can be construed as gold.
All that’s gold can be construed as good.
All that good is the way to a fulfilling life?

All that is fulfilling is gold?
Careful where you put your ambition.

It’s in the cortex. Your body has been aware of that shape in those shadows for some time, but saw no reason to alert you. The realization of what’s happening, those breaking branches, that haggard breath, those quick steps in your direction have suddenly surged to the forefront of your reality.

The plumes have always been billowing. Spraying their wastes into the clear skies, in what look like clouds from mini-volcanoes, from all over the world, to choke the life out of the one known life-sustaining planet.

I’ve been raised up. I’ve been torn down. To the deepest depths. To the highest altitudes. The only constant thing is that I’ll always be on the attack.
