free will is an illusion.
each of us are trapped in an adventure book.
sure, we choose our own paths.
sure, we believe we write our own destinies.
but each path was written long before we set foot upon it.
each choice was predetermined long before we knew there was a decision to be made.
in the end, we are still nothing but characters, following a script we had no hand in writing.
free will is an illusion.

The gods envy Humanity.

They envy our ability to have faith, in our perseverance, envy our audacity to see the very limits the Universe and push beyond them.

They envy each breath, each firing synapse, each passing flutter of a pulse.

They envy how precious we consider each moment, envy our resilience, envy our willingness to keep digging, even if we assuredly have the answers.

They envy each smile, each agonizing cry, each desperate embrace.

They envy how deeply we feel, envy our compassion, envy how we allow our passions throwing us headlong into the unknown.

They envy each scar, each broken bone, each blood-encrusted knee as we rise from our falls.

They envy our creativity, envy our persistence, envy each wisp of imagination shared through canvas or parchment or concrete.

Humanity envies the gods.

Our envy is bred from a multitude of convictions, a plethora of longing.

We envy immortality, envy the ability to pursue everything, envy infinity.

We envy freedom, envy knowledge, envy limitlessness.

We have a handful of reasons to envy the gods.

But the gods?

They have endless reasons to envy us.

The ravine was at least seven feet deep, more of a ditch really. But for the cat that had just fallen from a midway point of the tree into the frigid cold water, it might as well have been a whole bloody mile. She was cold, shivering, crying for help. I tried to reach her, shielding my eyes from the sticky flurries falling all around us; I couldn’t make out the black fur in the dark water below, but her mewing told me she was still there, trapped. I needed to save her. Somehow.

Parasites, I hate them
cancerous tumor cells,
corporate raiders, politicians
Mother Nature and Father Time
that whither us each day with a kiss,
all these things, of life, rob us blind
they are all things none could miss
thieves that sap our health and bliss

lighting and needless words. Blend thorououghly like mixed paste. Over and over the same area. Apply twice for better results. Until we become a part of the wall. No. We are the wall. Another being. We trandscended but disappeared.

The concrete statue stood right outside, next to the library steps. I hated walking by it at night, on my way in to replace the books I had gotten the week before.

It was a statue of a woman holding what must of, at one time, been a small child… and now it slightly resembled a monster.

It’s been what, three hours? Three hours since you started and you’ve failed twice. Nice. You’ve never done anything right, have you? Good job, loser. Now get the fuck up.

Her mother thought it would be a good way to learn about patience and hard work. She had blisters on every surface of her hands and the yard didn’t look much better– a ten foot long trench here, a 15 foot long trench there. All perfectly 2 feet deep. All she did, all day, was dig trenches.

Every date means nothing before I encountered you. Since that date, you are my everything.

It was something that she knew she couldn’t see. It still existed however. marking. alienatin. she could see it so could anyone else. it was red. angry. twisted. out damn spot. it would remain. against her flesh. burdening her with its weight under the idea that it could never be removed. rip the flesh and tear inside she wondered. rip the flesh and tear inside. her hands would be marked with spots both unseen and promise because blood was her mission and the world was simply a bath.

She took another step down the rocky path, not knowing it would be her last. She was a very short distance from the end. The end began with a long fall. A short tumble was all she really needed to knock some sense into her senseless head. Too bad, she took her last step and fell to her death.

Wizards conjure spells and spells can be good or bad. If a wizard had shown up in Romeo and Juliet then everything would have turned up ok and everyone would have lived. And me myself and others would have restored faith in true love.

you are born that way? you develop it? you experience the pain of the world and the beauty and you lose that ability? you appreciate that you can’t see suffering
Blindness is not a choice. It is involuntary ignornance.

Lending a book is quite often dissappointing. Why? Because you never get them back. Then you have to awkwardly ask them back, which makes you feel like a stuck up annoying prick.

The paisley-patterned curtains were swept back to let in the sunshine, which dappled on the rising dust that lingered in the air. I sank down into the couch and swallowed in my surroundings. I missed being here. I missed it so much it hurt my chest.

The walls closed in more quickly than I could have imagined.
Or perhaps they were still.
Perhaps I only imagined them moving closer, the space around me shrinking.
Someone called my name. I could barely hear them. The utter noise of the movement around me was just too great. I choked back a sob. Don’t let them see you cry, I reminded myself.

Wild and untamed.
Domestic and compliant.
Beautiful and vicious.
Lethal and loving.
The curse of the horse.

Automatic world is far better than the manual world but it has sure brought in problems related to health as more people are depending upon machines rather than utilizing their body to do even simplest of work in their everyday life.

It all seemed smooth as silk, the way we are, the way things are going, everything was easy… our love was… easy. Amazing how just one simple thing can make things rougher than raw wool, how insecurities can set in, communication can break down taking our friendship and love from silk… to wool.

Nobody’s that honest anymore, to be honest. I mean even Abraham lincoln had to lie sometimes. The hardest thing though, is to be honest with yourself. Once you tell a lie so big everyone believes it, you’ll believe it too.

sideburns are one thing I’ve never given thought to. Then again my hair is so difficult and confusing seeing as I have “black man” hair. I just shave my head and think little of it. But in general, I love mutton chops. If I could have any sideburn it would be mutton chops. With a big mustache.

The nuclear wasteland had many zombies and many people were scared of it. The rats nibbled at your ankles and there was scrap metal sticking up everywhere, some nearly shapr enough to scratch bone. It was freaky!
