I like to hover my mouse over links to see where they go. I keep looking for something in life like that; something that I could hover over someone that I see at a distance just to see where they lead.

It was a blue cast. The kind that wraps hard up around the elbow and pulls on your shoulder. Sweaty. Stinky. Itchy. Ruining all summer fun unless you are a lazy 45 year old who simply wants to stay in air-conditioned comfort anyway.

The train is puling out of the station. I stand on the loading platform watching it go. Was I supposed to be on that train? I guess I’ll never know.

I will rise to the occasion and write something absolutely breath-taking in this short, one minute span of time.

I remember the wall that we painted with metallic glazes. It was one of those projects that turn out better than you think it will. It was a showpiece. Now someone else owns the house and I am afraid that it has been painted over. Artwork forever doomed to the adorn the background of snapshots only.

Rugged, healthy, tanned models
In Eddie Bauer checked flannel shirts and cargo shorts
Backpacking around the newest model of SUV
Because that’s what you do when you own an SUV.
You are more than a suburbanite.

There is something both satisfying and unsatisfying about montages. There is this great compaction of information but it feels as if much of the work was done by someone else. Yet almost everything we do is a montage of what we find around us: art, ideas, sound, color, shape, texture etc…

On the last day before my vacation, being at work seems like a wasteland. People in and out of my office like zombies demanding attention when all I want to do is finish my work and begin the relaxation. Piles of dead-end tasks build up on my desk and threaten to stall the appointed moment when I walk out and try to forget about the place.

I tried to console him. But he refused my sympathy. Sitting and suffering alone was all he wanted to do. But it wasn’t what he did. I suffered along with him. But at a distance.

The head emerged from the birth canal, wet, slimy and with no real idea that life would get both better and worse than that exact moment.

He felt like a dinosaur. His bones ached. His head hurt. He didn’t understand why it was so cold outside. He couldn’t adapt to the changes. A dinosaur.

I spent the morning spraying the clover in my lawn. This will, undoubtedly discourage the neighborhood rabbits from entering my yard since that was their favorite. My dog, is now pissed because she likes to chase the rabbits.
But the retired guy next door will be happy. At least I got that going for me.

A tree-frog chorus sings out from the damp edges of the ponds as I walk along the community trail, enjoying the spring weather.

I sat in the theater incredulously viewing the latest trailer for the next big summer blockbuster: “Trailer” It is about a haunted 5th wheel camper that would be responsible for the deaths of the entire Johnson family and more.

Once again I find myself at the intersection, trying to decide whether I should write again on this word or just click on to another site. What will I do? What will I do?

The intersection was busy with cars and bicycles and pedestrians all trying to occupy the same space and time without ever touching each other.

I was puzzled about the degree to which my writing would inspire people. But then I thought that my words are meant to inspire me. If they reach out to someone else then that is just a bonus. Puzzling.
