anatomy

The body of a beautiful woman. Dark hair. Magnetic eyes. Luscious lips.

The curve of her breasts, her hips. Drawing me in. Wanting her to turn, to open up. Yearning.

modern

There are things in life that we consider modern and things that we consider from the past. But could there possibly be things that exist that re both modern and from the past?

planter

seeds, farms, crops; FDR quote about the nation being built upon its farmers. America built by soil.

magazines

There they were, stacked upon the holder, unread and piling up. My first thought when I see these magazines is “I thought they would make me better read and a good conversationalist.”

science

Science was never my strongest subject. But it was going to have to save my life now that I was stuck in here. I couldn’t figure out if I should pour the red chemical or the bubbly one into the constantly rising acid in the beaker.

chills

This word means a lot. It means a lot to my family. It means a lot to my friends. It was a cold springs eve with aspirations to be another lonely night. I had the chills. She was my lover.

hassle

A hassle to me is something that is either tedious or troublesome. It is the obstacle thats place in our pursuit of what ever our mission is. I personally hate hassles but in the midst of it all i realize how important they are. They allow us to grow and to mature. it gives us wisdom in order to protect us from future minuscule hassles.

the stripes crisscrossed on the back of her shirt, accentuating the waist.

petition

We had to sign something quickly, a snap decision. We didn’t think much about the issue, just slapped our name and address onto the paper. But that clipboard… something about it was so distracting and dirty and troublesome, I couldn’t help but feel we’d done the wrong thing.

wagon

The wagon bumps down the dusty Oregon Trail. The belongs of the Hughes family dangle from every board. Their wagon stretches toward the horizon and the hope of a new life. Mr. Hughes hold the horses reins in his left hand and a remington rifle in his other.

obey

It’s not enough for someone to simply obey. They have to want to comply for their own reasons. Obedience without love is worth nothing. It’s simply you establishing power over another unjustly…

downpour

There was a downpour of emotion after the bombs dropped. People could see them falling to the earth from miles above them, with only a few short moments before they would make contact with the ground and explode. These last few emotional moments of existence were filled with sadness, happiness, curiosity, and love.

I was worried about a downpour last night, so I opted to take the train to work and possibly a cab home. The cab company was a pack of jackoffs, so I had to walk home at 1:30 in the morning. It was three miles. That’s not so bad, except for the fact that I strained my back on Monday. FML.

prosperous

One way that a man can be prosperous is to be completely content with the present moment. There’s only now, and concern for what can’t be changed and what can’t be controlled or predicted only robs from enjoyment of the shared experience of the here and now.

suppose

I suppose it’s about time that I realize my recent efforts are yielding incredibly positive results, and that ramping up the intensity or frequency is the next step toward achieving the life for which I believe I’m destined. November will be a crucial time for this, no doubt…

braid

This is the second time that this site has given me the same word two days in a row. What gives? It’d be OK if it were a good word, but “braid” is kind of lame…

I asked why she’d decided to braid her hair. She told me that she’d always admired the proud, young black girls with their tight, braided hair. She didn’t have a Rosa Parks or Harriet Tubman to admire. She was just a white devil, after all.

dense

Sometimes I feel dense when trying to come up with something poignant to say during this 60 second exercise. The words run from me, like a fox from an angry but sad-eyed bloodhound. I’m forced to resort to somewhat cliched metaphors stolen from Disney films.

playground

This word makes me think of the Madonna song from the movie “A League of Their Own.” This used to be my playground, this used to be my dream. This used to be the place I ran to whenever I was in need of a friend. She really isn’t that great a songwriter…

evidence

Yesterday I got photographic evidence that my lifestyle changes are having a visible effect on my overall appearance. It’s very encouraging and hopefully will last. The same is true for my writing habit. I’m making it stick regardless of the hurdles.

pressed

I want to give up the notion that it’s possible to be “pressed for time.” Time is a constant. We have no more or less regardless of our situation. The key is to perform actions mindfully and to the best of our ability.

preoccupied

I could’ve sworn this was yesterday’s word. I know because I felt preoccupied about the same thing that’s been preoccupying me for three years. Still, it’s good to always have a reminder about what’s on your mind that you should either address or let go of. After yesterday’s picnic, I won’t be letting go anytime soon…

» Posted By Todd On 09.25.2011 @ 9:42 am

I’m preoccupied with the thought of just one thing: her. It’s eating into the rest of my life how much I have her on my mind, yet there’s a strange comfort in the consistency of thought. I know that she’ll always be on my mind, from the moment I wake until the moment I lay my head to rest. She is everything.

port

They’ve always told me I was happy with any port in a storm. But as this storm rages, I can think of only one destination that will satisfy. We talked about it last night for the millionth time and got no resolution for the millionth time. Why can’t I let her go? Do I love her or is it only infatuation?

poison

it is a bad substance that you find in your kitchen cubbard. You would not want to injest poison but people frequently do. Sometimes by their own choice and sometimes they are poisoned by pollutants in the environment often put there by corporations.

deer

I saw a deer one afternoon prancing across a golf course where I was staying. The next day at the same time I saw the same deer (I think it was the same deer) at the same time. The next day after that…again. It’s clear that this deer has a routine and that so did I.

maroon

Color of blood, if I remember, but usually in folds of a dress, the light catching it a certain way, wine for the eyes, and scoops of shadows here and there.
