As in many, but all different.

Sweet, sweet salt.
The smooth, slow friction.
The two of us, slowly becoming intertwined.
Separated bodies combining to create a single being

My chest expands, as I slowly close my eyes.
My chest collapses, as my mouth slowly pulls downwards.
My eyelashes become cold, moist.
Pursing my lips together, I swallow.
I open my eyes, to see you standing there.
A single, small, tear slides down the inner corner of my eye along the outline of my nose.
I try to shake my head no, starting off slow, gradually shaking faster.
My lips quiver.
You look at me, reach out to my hands. Your face drops, and you look down, away from me.
Grabbing my shoulders, you bring me into an embrace. Squeezing tightly, gently running your hands along my back and spine. My arms folded infront of me, between us, my head buried in your neck and shoulder.
Facing toward my neck, you open your mouth to speak.
I can feel the warmth of your breath, the moisture in your lips. Squeezing tighter, you slowly whisper “Shh, breathe. No need to cry, I’m here now. One deep breath, it will be okay if you breathe”

I miss the way we were. The way you treated me, how we complimented each other. The way we were, together. You would look at me, and our fingers would mindlessly reach for each other. You, me, us, was inevitably short term. A simple infatuation. But us, together. You and me, were perfect. Our skin meshing, colliding and mixing into each other. We were one, connected. Conjoined, together.

I miss his skin. I miss the way his hands felt on my sides. No matter when he touched me, or where, it would give me chills. He was always warm, inviting. His chest would be against mine, and his fingers gently running along my spine and back, I would feel calm. It was the most peaceful and comfortable moments. The way his face brushes against mine, how his lips were always just moist enough to feel, but never wet or sloppy. I miss the way he looked at me and smiled, the way his eyes would stare at my lips. His lips and mine meshed in sync, always able to predict the next move. But mostly, over all, his heat. The warmth and softness of his muscled body would slid against and next to mine. That was my favorite, his skin. It was the one thing that kept me alive that whole time.

One to another.
Another to one.
Back and forth, swaying and switching.
The way things change hands has never been so graceful.

She slowly started the engine to the rusted old red ’74 Chevy. It gave up a fight, but rumbled into gear.
She reversed and pulled out of the driveway, and began down the street.
Passing neighbors, joggers, and children, She smiled.
She knew they were completely oblivious to anyone’s life but their own.
They then reached the end of the street, and the boy in the passenger seat said “Where to anyway?”
A small smile arose at the edges of her light pink chapped lips.
“Nowhere, yet. Anywhere really. Anywhere but here.”
And, they drove. For hours, for miles.
The music sped up, slowed, sped up again.
The only thing that held them together was the fear of being alone and the single suitcase they shared.

It sprays the earth, and the air above,
I watch it glisten as it slowly falls on my face.
The cold drops tickle my cheeks and rest upon my eye lashes,
It calms me.

The light flows,
filling the room.
Illuminating the unknown,
the darkness all around.
It’s odd to say something so small,
can relieve so many fears.
How it can kill and scare the things lurking behind the dark curtain they call night.

Grabbing and clinging for live.
Absorbing, sucking in the things around.
It is the basis of life.

What if I were free to fly?
Fly away,
Far far away,
Fly away like a bird.
A bird, leaving the flock

I look, and stare.
The thoughts run in circles,
The concept not quite sticking.
My stare lasts a bit longer,
until finally…
It clicks.

The smiles, the giggles.
The jokes, and stories being told over and over again.
Sometimes, it’s the little things.
The remarks, that send the goosebumps up,
and the butterflies swirling in your stomach.
It’s all about happiness.

The bass shakes,
The lyrics roll.
The members jump and scream,
Bobbing their heads.
The fans circle around and around,
Jump and sing along.
It continues through the night, song after song.

It will shake the world,
Fill it with fear.
The vibrations will soothe,
and put me to sleep.
It is the soundtrack to my dreams,
and the source of my nightmares.

Cold and hard,
Hot and liquid.
It shivers and shakes,
Pulls the life right from your inner core.
