He wasn’t eligible for the discount. His birthday was 2 days away, and he wasn’t yet considered a ‘senior’. “Lady, I’m going to be 65 in TWO DAYS! Can’t you make an exception?” “Sorry Sir, but rules are rules. And you’re not 65 for another 2 days…Store policy.”

Farmers are the backbone of the food production industry. The problem is that farmers are doing their jobs, but educators, parents, and the gov’t are not doing theirs. Garbage cans eat better than 60% of the world’s children. What is with all of the food waste? Why do we throw away so much food! It’s disgusting and we need to learn how to change this and make it stop! We are depleting our plant and our natural resources. It’s time to change this!

“…and it was a spectacular takeoff, but in the end…LOL! He hit the water like a ton of bricks! Hahahaha!” I couldn’t help but laugh at the thought of my brother’s first attempt at a dive, which had ended as a terrible stomach ache for him when he hit the water and did a gigantic belly flop instead!

I really LOVE FISHING! The last time I fished (before the 5 seconds I was given this summer) was when I was about 6 years old. It was up at my dad’s work friend’s cottage. I can’t remember where the cottage was, but it was up north in Ontario somewhere. Anyway, my sister and I fished off the dock and out of the gentleman’s boat…I wish I could do more fishing!

My children being friends with each other is quiet cyclical. Sometimes they like each other and sometimes they don’t. I feel like it goes with the cycle of the moon, or maybe it’s just the time of day, or the rising of the tide. Who knows. Sometimes they are great together, and sometimes they’re at each other’s throats…I guess that’s just the way siblings are!

It should say “What would I say about ATTUNED. Darn you Auto-Correct!

What would I say about attended? Who uses this word on a regular basis? It’s certainly not me…I wonder what careers would involve the use of this word on a regular basis…I would have no idea of any…None…And now I’m stuck because I’ve been given a word that no one ever uses…

I took the glass without even thinking about it. It was my favorite and I couldn’t just leave it sitting there in the open like that. I didn’t want someone else who wouldn’t appreciate its beauty to take it.

The sand shifted slightly as she picked the bottle up for the shoreline. She couldn’t make out what was inside. A small half-rotten cork stuck out of the top of the bottle.

She glanced the lens of the camera as she pointed it at the small child. Looking up she began to click away, catching shots as she followed his movements. She could not believe it had been so long since she had seen him last.

The cat sat on the bed and looked at her with wanton eyes. It had been sitting there patiently for her to acknowledge it. She glanced at the cat as if it were an apparition. One small noise escaped the cats lips as if to say “hello?”

Her black hair glistened in the street lamp as she slowly crept toward the target. All systems go. All she needed now was the signal. She watched intently as a cat stocking its prey.

I wrung my hands and wiped my brow. What time did he say he would be home? I paced across the floor and glanced out of the window. Where was he? I couldn’t believe that I allowed him out of my sight even for a minute.

My brother is maybe the one of single most important people to me in my life. He has such a beautiful soul. He was a great influence on my son and I credit him with teaching my son how to love his younger brother. What a wonderful gift to pass on to his nephew.

What was it he had said about the black bird? Don’t stand too close? Too late. It flew directly about me like a kamikaze pilot going in for the kill.

I handed him the screwdriver. “What’s this?” “A screwdriver?” “Yeah, but that’s not what I need. I need a Philip’s head.” “What’s the difference?” He winced and shook his head.

It was always my nature to set a good example for the kids I saw on a day-to-day basis. It was such a gift to me to see the respect that developed between us. I guess that was what I was in it for in the first place.

I could feel his essence surround me but I could not tell if he was alive or dead. What matter would it make now? He wouldn’t be enveloping me in his arms anymore.

I hadn’t seen the three of them in over 15 years. It was a lovely time. I’m so glad the restaurant wasn’t a buffet. It was nice to just sit down and chat. Catching up is the wrong term.

What can I say? I did it on a whim. I thought it was a good idea at the time, but somehow it did not come to fruition. I wonder sometimes what I would be like if I had any common sense.

I looked up at the sky and saw the dark cloud flow in front of the sun, blocking it out. “This can’t be good,” I thought to myself. I made a bee-line for the door but before I could reach the handle the sky lit up and the ground shook.

I’ve never seen the appeal of court jesters. Funny hats and costumes and slap-stick humor. I enjoy subtle humor that’s off-the-cuff and isn’t forced.

I don’t know what made me think I could believe him. He had never led me to that conclusion before. Still, my gut told me this time was different. I opened the door slowly and peeked around it. He was standing there with a dozen roses.

The prisoner looked through the bars. The supper cart came down the corridor with his meal. He swallowed the lump in his throat as he wondered how he would manage.

Georgia reached for the garden shears. All it would take is one swift motion and it would all be over. She picked up the shears and started for the door. She hesitated for one second before swinging it open and and rushing through the doorway.

Thomas eyed his opponent. His hand shook under the table. He studied the board and hesitated before he moved his bishop. He knew it would be his last move.

What a beautiful color…NOT! Why do prom colors always have to be so bold? What happened to the sweet girl who wore baby pink and flats? Girls are way too provocative.

I’m riding on the train to see a friend. It’s been a long time, but I know the minute I see her time will stand still and we will be all caught up. There is a warp in the space-time-continum.

A young man sat in a chair and mumbled to himself. Something about freedom, something about suffering, something about justice. What does it all mean? Is it the suffering that brings about freedom?
