I thought about all the different sources of protein and which one I’d prefer to eat. They all sounded so good, but some of them were healthier than others. I decided to opt for the edamame. It would be challenging to get each kernel out of the pod, but in the end it would be well worth it. Delicious, healthy snacking, made convenient but with some work invested.

The deer was graceful as she leapt over the brush in the woods. She thought she could make it to shelter before the storm blew in and was almost there. Her young fawns would be there waiting. The sky got darker and the winds picked up. She would be there soon.

Rebels was the motto when I was in highschool. We were the rebels. I suppose, if I think about it, that I grew up to be a social justice advocate because I was a rebel and I always associated it with defending what is right in the world.

In the beginning, I was not unhappy about my job. I just wanted a break.
It was not until my break was refused that I became unhappy. Would it have been better to just allow me to take the break rather than causing all this heart ache?

The stars will illuminate the sky like lights on a Christmas tree, lighting our way as we promenade along the rocky coastline.

My last word. My face most of the time. The face of most of the people I meet. Always sad. Always tight. Light does not penetrate. I do not like frowns. I would much rather see a smile. Frowning is not good for your face muscles while smiling releases them. Less wrinkles. More fun.

Ivan grabbed his puppy and kina shove him into his backpack, along with the two cans from the shelf, and fled from the store. He ran around the corner of the store and hid between sagging bags of trash and looked protectively of his goods.

something that is made up
it is nonsense
it doesn’t make any sense
I don’t care what anybody says about it
I can’t figure it out
what does it do?
what does it mean?
is it really important?
I don’t know
I just realized
that this too
because it doesn’t matter what I type
no one will read it

The Colonel, as he liked to be called, looked sternly down his nose at me. I felt like I had disappointed him beyond belief.
I can’t believe that you snuck out last night to be with that boy, his voice boomed at me. I am going to nail your window shut. Do you know how much shame you have brought on not only this family but yourself?

In the deserg, the ground is flat. It is boring and monotonous. It looks as if you can just walk for hours and fall off of the edge at the horizon. Nature’s optical illusion. Perspective is the key.

a master is someone who tells you what to do. even if you think you are independent, you always have some form of master – a boss, a parent, a lover. Most people try to take control of their own lives, become their own master. Dogs have masters. We are masters. You are a master. :)

sTo begin is often the hardest part of the journey. Beginnings are more difficult than endings. Think about it. Endings come as they may, whether prepared or not. But a beginning, well that requires a decision, that fateful impetus toward a first step. Rather than peek around the corner, you move forward, closing the gap between you and it.

I wanted nothing but a quiet place to be alone. Maybe a room with nothing but a table and a typewriter with just me alone. Just to think

Loss always means sadness to me-with the exception of weight! Something is missing that used to be there.

I went to a carnival to see the side show. There were hairy women, men in heels, someone with the nose of an elephant, and siamese twins. I was feeling good, though, because for once, I was the one who seemed the most “normal.”

Move beyond the walls that confine my thinking of what is possible and into what you’ve only imagined. Now stay there.

Running through the poppy field, she began to realize she really would prefer to be running through a field of lillies. Why? no reason, just because she wanted to. Should she turn and run the other way and look for a lilly field? Maybe…..let’s just take a nap here and dream about the right answer.

It was a misty morning when he awoke, rain pattering on the tiled roof and fog curling under the doorstep. Blinking open gritty eyes he wondered what the hell had happened. He was pretty sure he’d been dead.

stacks is where college students go to study at penn state. it’s a term for the library and the books that are stacked there. it’s how penn state harrisburg’s cafeteria got it’s name; it used to be the library.

I was invited to take part in a car rally through the Amazon Forest. It was incredibly exciting making our way through the jungle with anacondas, jaguars and huge spiders attacking our car. We made it through in 24 crazy hours.

placing my napkin in my lap as soon as i got to the table to indicate that the meal had started, and looking across the wood to see that my date had not done so, it made me realize that we were from two completely different worlds. he probably didn’t even know that you tell a bride best wishes and a groom congratulations at a wedding. uncultured newbie.

and be awake
rise to the challenge of the day
are you the challenge of today?
will you challenge today?
everyday calls you to rise and begin the way of tomorrow’s yesterday
every moment is yours to rise and take by the horns
because you are the way of tomorrow’s beginning
