eulogy

Eulogy, well when I think of this word the first thing that comes to mind it’s whats read at a funeral. This is what is used to tell about a person and let everyone know who and what they were about. There are some very accomplished people in the world and you want to celebrate their memory.

barbeque

Barbeque is delicious. Nothing says summer quite like barbeque. The smell of it, the pleasure and experience, with laughter mingling in and clinks of glasses ringing in the air. BBQ pairs best with friends and sun.

skater

She said see ya later boy. The connotations are so many – some punk kid with long greasy hair and baggy jeans. Although, I guess it could be a figure skater too. But that’s not the first thing you think. Drugs? Maybe. Quiet? For sure. Carrying around that stupid skateboard. Yep. Not what I want to be or want my kid to be.

empathy

Empathy – it’s something that’s missing these days. That’s why there’s so much personal crime and acts against each other. If we truly felt what the other was feeling, or could at least put ourselves in their shoes, the acts we perpetrate against each other would have so much more kindness and less malice.

resting

I was resting on the sidewalk one day when a man came up to me and told me about a magic lamp. The lamp could transport you anywhere you wanted to go on one condition: Someone you loved would forget everything about you. “Would you be willing to take the risk?” asked the man.

distilled

My world shook. How could this be? What sort of revelation was this? I knew of some sort that the events had a probable chance of occurring but this was too much. I felt sick to my stomach. If she knew, how could she betray me? She was always the intuitive one.

tousled

It bounced up and down, side to side energetically. Never stopping to question the theory of gravity. I stared blankly at its movement, trying to think of a word to describe it. It was a tousled…..

senator

He was a tall man with wide broad shoulders and a muscly chest to match. I stared up into his eyes and asked curiously, “Are you who they say you are? That man?” He nodded curtly.

prisoner

I clinged at the iron bars, my hands were bitten by the cold coarseness of the metal. I screamed, “Let me out! Don’t take her!” Stone cold eyes looked into me, reflecting a blankness that made me shake.

complexity

The brain is a funny thing. It controls the human outlet. But what makes this brain so amazing? Well you see there are things called nerves and your brain controls this system. But you wouldn’t understand, would you? Its all too complex for you.

bluegrass

“Here take some of this young lady,” whispered the old haggard woman.
“What is it?” I asked curiously.
“Its a concoction that I made. A real punch to your lemonade,” replied the old woman.

“I remember two years ago, I was picking lemongrass in the Wilkes field when I suddenly had an idea. An idea to genetically create a new plant with a bitter taste. Try some,” explained the old woman.

aura

There was a dark black feel around her. I couldn’t place my finger on what it was about her. It seemed like everything I did was being watched. Am I overreacting? I was always classed as a bit of a drama queen. My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by someone’s hand resting on my shoulder. I shuddered.

railway

It was a cold evening, there was no one about in the town of Elmswood. I stood at the corner light with the lights flickering. I stood waiting, for someone to notice my existence. Would anyone notice me ? Would they stop to ask what was wrong?

stall

The stall in the barn was full of hay. The cows were coming in one by one. I thought the old farmer looked tired as he trailed in behind his herd. His face showed signs of years of hard work. I think he reminded me of my Grandpa who had worked all his life on the farm. There was no time for vacations or long weekends. It was always a battle between Grandpa and Mother Nature. He would work daylight to dark in order to beat an incoming storm. And one might ask for what? The answer being displayed as each person told a story at his visitation. The words of honesty and integrity were a common thread. The answer being his cows needed that stall in the barn to be full.
