I was honestly tired of being the only logical person in this gods forsaken group. Like, we could approach an obvious ambush, our sharpshooter would spot it for us, right? Well, that WOULD be the case if Zena didn’t barge into every room like a maniac! I’ve honestly been considering kicking her off of the team, if I’m being honest. She hasn’t really ever been useful for anything.

I AM VERY IRRITABLE IN THE MORNING. I NEED TEA TO STOP ME BEING SO IRRITABLE. DO YOU GET IRRITABLE AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY?

rage — this is what happens when you stuff your feelings, when you do not say what is in your heart, when you do not stand up for what you believe, when you feel small and unsafe and you realize that those around you who should protect you do not. it becomes rage when the people you love misunderstand what love really is

I guess the first image is of a ginger and white dog, expressive but far-off expression, right front leg raised, tail erect. Magestic?

Remember, during recess, the erasers, thwak thwak thwak thwaaaack. Against the west wall of our school, white chalky streaks, the feel of the gritty felt-side, the smooth camel colored chamois? The honor of inhaling all that dust and the 5 minutes of being outside alone. Without supervision, without anyone.

I hate books about witches and magical, mystical forests, cauldrons and cackling. Feminism gone bad.

Tell me it matters which pathway I take…I only need to choose a path-any path-instead of being paralyzed by fear and inaction, and standing at the crossroads, looking at the pathways.

Emotionally I feel contained. I can’t show all my emotions at times and that hurts.
I feel I will be judged if I show my true emotions. Contained describes my emotions.

I think of the walled city in Hong Kong where drug addicts and prostitutes were in abundance. I think about people being trapped inside a dark place, about gloom and doom. But, walled can also have a positive meaning. It can mean protection from hostile outside forces, from enemy combatants seeking to steal what I have and you don’t have.

Beyond all hope and expectations, beyond our fears and walls of doubt, beyond these and more, we have the roar, the suspicious roar.

I can’t think of anything to say about this word – I hate the sport, never cared for the candy, I don’t wear name brands or covet this line of clothing (waspy, boring, flat) – oops, my time’s up.

In the middle, a grand divider built of cement and steel, columns and bricks and covered, I mean completely covered in… Well, you needed to see it to believe it.

Her headband kept slipping back – the tiny teeth had broken off years ago – to reveal grey, oily roots and scaly hairline psoriasis.

Sibling rivalry is the theme of fairy tales, but it’s also the root of success, discovery, ambition and happiness.

I think of pastel blue and rosebud pink, colors for a newborn. Sticky, stretchy, awful sugar rush. And I think of you: sandals in hand, chapped lips and squinting at the sea. Photo album memories.

Just one minute. I’ve counted how long it takes. It takes exactly one minute. Or so. Actually, I might be wrong. But the last time I counted, the last three times, in fact, it took about a minute. I think.

You’re a trooper, you really are. I know how much you hate it here and how you’d prefer to be with your Anna. But it means a lot to us that you showed up, it does. Stay awhile, won’t you?

I wanted to be a celebrity when I was younger. But not the celebrity of today – with their non-stop exposure, silly social media quips, awkward sexual trysts. I wanted glamour, respect, beauty; I wanted to be an “honest celebrity”.

The plan’s been derailed, well, more like changed. We aren’t going. Not going. So, do whatever you have to do, make some calls, cancel the tickets. I can’t say I’m sorry.

Standing in the rain, with the biting wind stinging her cheeks and the smell of her soggy wool sweater making her nauseous, Alice decided that Enough Is Enough and Really, It’s Time to Move On.

“Ships in its entirety!” What a strange description – as if the parts could be delivered separately, as if anyone could possibly assemble the thing to begin with.

When I was a teenager, I received a floral stencil as a present. I bought some paints at the arts and crafts store and spent the better part of an afternoon painting the border around my bedroom. The colors I had chosen were magenta and teal. I lived with that ugliness for years.

She leaned forward in the armchair, willing him to look up at her. “When do you think we’ll be done here? I have somewhere I need to go,” she said.
