Musical was the only way to write. Although singing was of course the easiest way to access the magic, playing an instrument added depth and power. The more complex the instrument, the greater the power. Except bagpipes.

You have about as good a chance as a steer in a bull herd.
What does that eve mean?
You’re going to get your ass kicked, smalls.

I could probably shoot that far.
That’s not good enough. Either you can, or you can’t.
I will try.
Do. Or die.

Actual silverware, not carved wood or bone. I felt fumble-fingered and quaint next to the nobles, eating finer food than I had even seen before.

She knelt by his beside, and forced a smile upon her face. She gazed deep into his blue eyes, growing more fearful at the cloudy glaze of fever…. and something else. Was she too late to save him?

Broke. Nothing. Nada. What am I going to do now? How can I get through the week? The day? I’m going to need a miracle.

I missed. The draw, the anchor, a breath, and release. The arrow fell short, and the buck bound away. Holding my bow, I hoped for another chance.

The flex tube just wasn’t cooperating. She didn’t know how she was going to make this work, and time was running out. If these explosives weren’t in place in the next 10 minutes, the whole mission would fail.

The motel was tired and worn as the people who visited it. The drab, peeling paint of the eaves had faded to a non-descript muddy yellow, and the walls had numerous patches.

The freeze finally struck. They had been forecasting it for weeks, but this is Texas, and I don’t believe them. Now were in for it. The leaves that have been waiting to turn will now turn blazing colors.

With the space under the stairs, I filled with love and memories and monsters. How do you separate the good from the bad? It is not possible. But how would you know the one without the other. I could do without quite so many monsters, though.

Space is the final fronteir. It’s what we were told. Now we know better. Just the five of us, soon to be just four. There is a great nothing here, and we will soon join it. And I’m afraid it will have all been for nothing.

Some people are not aware of the fact that the sponge is an animal. More correctly, a community of tiny animals living together, filtering tiny food particles out of the water.

He made an offer I couldn’t refuse. My life for hers. He knew what I’d do, we all did. He just wanted to see the look of defeat on my face. And the fear that he’d take her anyway.

These was always a chance. Luck had never been on her side, but sometimes that is the only hope. She drew a breath and gauged the distance. She took that first fateful step, running for the edge, and leaped. Her heart was in her throat, and she whumped against the cliff’s edge. She’d made it.

The wings on the dragonfly glowed iridescent as it sailed across the water. It seemed to be coming in for a landing, buzzing determinedly towards me. I was surprised when it lit upon my outstretched hand, and suddenly felt like good luck was heading my way.

Lightning flashed, the light blinding her as the boom rattled her teeth. She had to get out of here. This tempest was destroying the forest, and her with it, if she didn’t find a way to stop it. There were words, but there wasn’t enough time.

Finally got the tickets. Been waiting so long for them. Now we’re walking in the auditorium, the rumble, buzz, and hum of the crowd anticipating the music. Walking up front, just 3 rows back, center stage. Better find my ear plugs before it starts.

HIstory is filled with stories of heroism and hatred, triumph and tragedy. It is the listing, the story, the record of the human condition. Sometimes it makes us proud to read it. Other times, we wish it had not been so, that there was not such a taint upon our race.

Sideburns have changed over the years, often being indicative of the culture of the time. Personally, I don’t care for large, overt ones, but they can be interesting. Take the ones on ST: TOS. Sort of part of the iconic image.

The mint smell rose from the creekside, adding to the general aroma of the green woods. She bent over to take a spring, chewhing thoughtfully, then taking a drink of the cold spring, the water tasting ever colder due to the ming.

there was a theif in the night stealing not goods or money but souls. he was taking them to heaven to live in glory, music, relief. there were those who refused to come, to believe it was real, yet it WAS real. You could touch it, if only with your heart and soul. And it is never ending. Joy, joy and can only be known here on this earth in the briefest of moments. Barely glimpsed yet ever sought.
