Where do I start? Life startles you often and when you least expect it. Trust me, I would know. You turn around and something happens, the thing that you least expect, whether it is good or bad. Karma doesn’t exist.

BOOM! The impact rattled the fort and Johnny was knocked off of his feet. BOOM! He felt another body fall on top of him and struggled to sit up. As he peered over the wall of the fort, his heart nearly stopped- in the bay was a huge, menacing fleet of warships.

Sometimes it is hard to see them- the stars. They hide behind the clouds that are so far below them. But even when you can’t see them, you know that they are there, glowing. And even though they are unthinkably far away, you can feel them as if they are brighter than the sun.

Lately I’ve been so lost. I don’t know where my life is headed or what I’m going to do with my future. It feels like I’m stumbling around in the dark. I need a light. I need guidance. I need someone, something, to guide my back to the right track.

We are the citizens. We are the voice. But somehow we are not the voice that is heard. We are the loudest but we are not heard. We are the ones who have been here, the ones who built this land. But our voices are drowned out by the electronic beating of this new age, this dark age. Our voices are lost in the wave of time.

The plant was dying. Every morning the sun came up and shone the light on it that would never reach the darkness inside. And every afternoon the rain fell, watering it with the tears that would never be able to wake it up. The plant was dying. There would be no revival from the outside. The only thing that could save it now was within. The plant’s will to grow, to survive, to live. The sun and the rain had long given up trying to wake it from what they believed was an endless slumber. So the plant had only itself. And somehow that was all it needed.

She knew that it wasn’t a good idea. But she had already made up her mind, and her iron will wouldn’t let her do anything else. People talked about her behind her back, but she didn’t care. The only thing she cared about was getting to her goals; proving herself to the ones who didn’t think she was good enough. Because as long as she knew that she could do it, it didn’t matter what anyone else said.

The laughing rang in her ears. Everyone around her, laughing. They didn’t think she was worth anything, but she knew deep inside that she was. She ignored them, pushing the bad thoughts away and bringing in the good ones, because she was worth it.

She placed the sunglasses over her eyes and the blond wig on her head. It was itchy, but she didn’t worry about it. She wouldn’t be wearing it for long. She adjusted the black hat on her head and took one last look in the mirror. She was ready.

She looked at him, memorizing every detail from each wavy hair to the lint on his sweatshirt. She loved all of it. She loved him.
