I signed my life away…I thought they said “If you wanna sing, sign here”

The aging rocker sat slumped in the old rocking chair…which is about as close as he comes to being a rocker these days. Which is what the people around him say to each other. But in his mind he relives every note he ever played, only slower, with every motion he makes. Some days it is all he can do to push that rocking chair back and forth to match the beat of the music that plays in his head…but something had to give. Either rock faster than he can make the chair go or slow the songs down to stay in sync. In the end he decided this compromise wasn’t so bad, this way he can concentrate on the girls who would crowd around the stage, yelling his name.

I tend to not ensue anything of value. I watch old black and white tv shows instead of writing the next, great screen play.

His fingers slowly moved to the first clasp of her dress which was the only thing standing between the two of them. The pretense of looking at a Renoir which hung over her bed was gone, the knowledge that they both wanted each other was certain and time was racing by them as their hearts pounded with anticipation of their bodies finally, being
truly next to each other. This was a flirtation that had been in the makings for years and now the only thing between them was these dress clasps. She was wearing a beautiful Midieval costume for a party she was giving downstairs. She loved the dress the moment she saw it but now the only thing that stood in their way was this beautiful lace and velvet costume she was wearing with a hundred clasps that he needed to unhook. By now the first one was done, then the second…and the third. He was thinking if he could only get to number 50 she could slip out of it. But she knew if she tried hard enough she could be out of it by number 25!

Vines tangle, they support each other, they give you shade if woven over head in an arbor, they compete for space and sun light. I love vines. So pretty and delicate for a few days as they branch out and find their way to support. And suddenly you see they are no longer are a light green color and delicate, as if over night they grew into strong dark green vines winding their way through life, they are adults now.

What is eternal? Where do we go from here? There must be a higher level of being…

She mixed the elixir, dimmed the lights and tried with all her might to spend the next few hours making this man, her own. The magic potion was just a cocktail and the lights always dimmed this time of night because they were on a timer but the passion was her’s alone. She was using her feminine wiles to conjure up the heart throbbing passion they once shared between them. And it wasn’t like he didn’t love her, because she knew he was wild about her, it was because this was the way she kept him head over heels in love with her.

The leathery texture of her skin was a tell-tell sign of a rich divorcee who spent too much time and money hibernating at sunny spas around the world in an effort to get over the pain and humiliation of being publicly dumped by her rich husband. But there wasn’t enough rays of sun to mend her broken heart or enough alcohol to drown her sadness.

There is sanctity where ever you look for it. It is not found in a building, a book or in a leader, it is within your heart. That is where love and respect for all things begin.

Growing things … seeds set into soil at just the right depth, in the perfect soil and exposed to sunlight and water, gives a person a real sense of accomplishment. It is more than providing yourself with food or flowers, it is realizing you are a part of the growing cycle of life.

STOP, THINK, Then ACT. Life, in that order, has the best outcome.

If I were a visitor to this planet I could only look on and wonder “what the hell are these people thinking?”. Greed, corruption and a complete lack of compassion for their fellow humans, plants and animals. And that is just their leaders. The people on the street aren’t much better. If I just appeared here I would have to ask myself “do they not see they live on the most beautiful big, blue, ball of water and land with blue skies and clear water?”. Why do they not appreciate what they have been given?

Take responsibility for your self. Be willing to experience being right and being wrong. Being weak and being strong. And let others have their own space to do the same without pointing out their flaws because it only reflects poorly back on you. Being responsible means you are prepared to do what must be done and being willing to take full credit or blame for your actions, without any excuses.

Get real. That is the best advice I can give anyone. Get real and stay real. It is simple but not easy. You may start your day feeling real and being true to yourself but as time goes on there are many tests you must go through. People have agendas and they need your help. You get pushed and shoved from all sides. Your best friend asks you if that dress makes her butt look good? The boss wants to present your idea as his own to make the whole department look good. And so on and on and on. Where do you end and the rest of the world begins? Just how far will you go to give up yourself in order to make everyone else feel good?

I like the sound of silence. It isn’t available often and when it is you have to listen carefully to hear it in it’s full glory…just the absence of noise…ahhhhh…do you hear that? It is the sound of nothing.

I choose to be the greatest version, of the grandest vision, ever I have had of myself…daily.

Unfortunately, politician has become a dirty word in our life. How low will they go to use and abuse the people of this country? They have no feelings of shame or remorse. No feelings of the affects on the people who they demand to do their bidding. Give us more money, give us more of your selves, now, or suffer the consequences. There is no end to their bottomless pit of greed.

I have lived my life based on the word “must”. I must do this and I must do that and for some reason the word must was always attached to something related to work. My whole life has been about working and serving others needs. What about my needs? How has my life come to this? All work and no play…now I must use this word to serve my highest purpose…to have some joy! So now I must go…because I must write the screen play that I have put off forever!

Oh…I will not lord over you, making you feel inferior. All you need is someone to look in your direction and you begin to question your very existence. Where is your sense of self? You are a good person so let go of all the negative thoughts put on you by others. Their opinion of you is none of your business. Your business is to judge yourself, based on your own values and what you have done in your lifetime. Let go of the baggage…it does not serve you well. Peace to you…

Living well is the best revenge. No one can make you mad, sad or indifferent unless you let them…and since you can’t win everyone’s love then just go about your business and be happy.

I am available to everyone, everywhere, all the time…or so it seems. The word no rarely pops up in my conversations. Yup, that’s my life goal…to be of full service to all in this life.

There are many methods to my madness. Some are designed to speed things up to make more time to other things. Some are designed to slow things down so I can enjoy the moment…and other methods are tailor made for staying in the moment…where true happiness resides.

I like to sit on the roof of my house on a hot summer’s
night and watch the stars and listen to the creatures of the night
talking to each other as a cool breezy moves past me followed by
warm summer air, left over from the heat of the day.

A friend told me that if I have a choice between two things, it is one choice too many. They both look so good to me at the moment. It takes me forever to chose one!

I love to cook. It makes me feel like I am doing something vital for my family. Chopping, slicing, dicing, braising, browning, frying…it’s all the same to me. Just an ends to a means. But the real thrill comes from seasoning. What am I in the mood for tonight? Sweet? Savory? Spicy? So many choices in the just the type of salt alone. Then add some herbs, they are key to great flavor. Not too much pepper though, that stays on the pallet way too long and overwhelms the meal. Just like in life, a little sweet and sour goes a long way…

Local Yokel…that’s what I said to a motorcycle cop who was writing a traffic ticket to my friend while visiting San Francisco. She proved her reputation for being the worst driver I know by making a U-turn in front of the motorcycle cop as he tried to pass us as we were looking for a parking space. He laid his bike down in the road to avoid being hit by us and he was so mad he broke the first pen he was writing with. That’s when I told him we were just yokels from the sticks and didn’t come to town enough to know how to drive. So he let her off with a stern warning because they do not like to ticket tourists.

Institutions come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. There are jails with walls and jails without walls. Many people are institutionalized by their own beliefs…no stone walls are needed to keep them confined…it’s all in their own mind.
