Life comes with a high stakes premium. The price of admission is nothing less that bravery wrapped in determination and all the energy you can muster.

Olive completion, smokey dark eyes looking out over the crowd, sizing the women up, who will he take home?

Rocky terrain is a great opportunity to hop rocks…make lemon aide out of lemons…

A blonde, a red dress and scarlet lipstick was all it took to turn his head. It didn’t matter who she was or what man she belonged to…he couldn’t take his eyes off of her. Watching her dance, the humid air enveloping her like a robe, made her even more irresistible. Now if he could just approach her…

The turtle moves slow. His very existence is an exercise in caution. No move is not thought out carefully. We could learn a lot from the turtle.

Intention is the framework of life. What did you really come here to be? What did you want to become? How do you want to make others feel? Know these things, they are the framework of your life.

My whole life has been repressed by events beyond my control. How do you not react to that? You just move on…at a slower much more guarded pace…but you do move past the past.

I was born stubborn. Sweet but stubborn. Being polite was mandatory and being a born people pleaser every one loved me…but don’t try to make me do anything. It just wasn’t going to happen. Just ask me politely to do something and was happy to do what you wanted.

Life is a playground with unwritten rules…

Well that defined our relationship in a hot mess of a moment. She blew into town like a swirling snow storm, trying to mask her motive, waiting until the time was not right to air her grievance and the ran out the door like she was being chase by wolves. Will things never change with her? When will I learn what the lock on the door is for? The next time my phone rings all she will hear is me…not answering it…not listening to the latest drama that has come into her life. Good bye trouble…hello sanity.

The spiral into darkness of spirit can happen quickly or very, very slowly. One misstep at a time. One drink or hit…and you have one foot on a slippery slope into the abyss. And no one can dig you out. There are short cuts, no do overs or easy outs…so think carefully about what you chose in life. Who are you and what did you come here to do? That is the only question you need to answer for yourself…

The Brown Derby was the place to be in Hollywood back in the day. A man who ran a famous upscale restaurant said he could sell food out of anywhere and be successful…even out of a hat. So he built a restaurant in the shape of a brown derby hat…and the rest is history.

We met. He was just a shadow in the doorway and I was an underage kid. Before I knew it we were on the roof top of his home. The hot July night slightly cooled off by the breeze under the starlit night. He kissed me, not knowing I was only a week away from my 15th birthday. Not until the next day did he realize this. Being a good man of sound mind and body he had nothing more to do with me. Very wise for a boy of 18. Six years passed before I would see him again. I was old enough to see him play in a band and for him to buy me a drink…but again, timing was not on our side. Twenty six years passed before I received a message from a mutual friend…”he is looking for you”. And now eleven years later I am trying to decide what to do for our wedding anniversary…what gift says “thank you for being here”?.

She rubber her fingers over the spine of the manuscript, wondering, is it good enough? Is this the one she should send out to be read or should it end up tossed into the corner with the others which had become a towering tribute to her own lack of self confidence. The clock is ticking, what’s it going to be?

What is the easiest thing to eat for lunch? A sandwich! Turkey and french bread with mayo, mustard, lettuce, wax peppers, salt & pepper but the crowning glory of this sandwich is…bell peppers! They make it taste fresh and crunchy. Oh how I wish I had one now.

What ever we think about, we magnify so it is important to look at all that we do have in life and not what we lack.

If you don’t stand for something
You will fall for anything
Know who you are
And what your standards are.

She withheld her love from him. Not because she didn’t love him but because she did. Too much. Standing beside him made her so nervous the held her breath, so afraid of making a mistake in front of him. She felt he was everything and she was nothing. Just a bit of clay waiting for him to mold her into the perfect woman.

I love to sweep the kitchen floor. It feels like I am cleaning up my whole world. Even the things that can’t be changed, have the appearance of being under my control and in good condition. In my mind’s eye, for that one moment, everything in my life seems to be neat and tidy.

Tea for two
Two for tea.
Me for you and
You for me.

The tea poured from the slender pot and glistened in the sun as it fell delicately into the fine china tea cup. Not one drop splashed out side of the rim of the cup. No that would not due. Setting tea service and serving is an art. It is your signature, your calling card into polite society. The social standards at the turn of the century, the 1900’s, were firm. A lady had to know her place and it was in the kitchen or serving in the dinning room. A wise women knew her roll in society.

Be gentle with yourself. Give yourself a break today, all that has past is gone, tomorrow is not here yet. Be in the present with yourself and live in the now. It is all that matters anyway. And do the same for those around you. They are fragile, too.

I can’t recall a time in my life when things were this different. The governments around the world have changed all of the rules. We have so little freedom and don’t seem to notice or mind. We should be picketing in the streets, shutting down the country until it comes to it’s senses. But instead we put our heads down and trudge on to work, just glad to have a job. Or sit in the corner and wonder how to pay the bills and worry that we will be thrown out into the streets. We pray that things will get better, but they won’t, not in any real measure, because we are willing to accept defeat without putting up a battle. God help us all. Amen.

I think I might like to have a life size cutout of George Clooney in my home. Yes, that is the perfect decorating touch to complete the look I am going for. It says, she has good taste and friends in high places!

I like my new mode of transportation: a zippy, new used car. Small and comfortable, high mileage and cute.

Ink has done more for the world than you would ever imagine. Once ink was invented it allowed people to communicate with each other in different places around the world. Then the next logical step was to inspire readers to go to distant places to see for themselves what the people and places were like that they had read about. Not bad for a mere liquid.

I once had a problem with my horse and attended a barrel racing clinic. It was great to see so many other people struggling with problems and we all tried to help each other. The teacher was so good with each person and I could see that she really loved her work. It is great to have someone help you when you have no idea how to fix a problem.
