dishwasher

The dishwasher was empty. It was his turn to wash them tonight. I know that. I know I shouldn’t do it myself. I know I should hold out and wait until the morning, reprimanding him and forcing him to do better. I know I won’t do that. I know I’m too weak, too soft spoken. I’ll do them myself. I’ll talk to him about it tomorrow. No I won’t. But it’s nice to dream.

swift

It was very swift, the falling of the snow. They were like little ice crystals landing softly on my tongue and melting into little puddles of cold. I loved the snow. It reminded me of her. locked

it was. it was locked, the door to the tower was locked, and that was all. no guards no checkpoints, nothing but the one lock and the rusty fence outside, and kai didn’t know what more to do but follow her mother down the empty dusty hallway and hope something of promise would follow.

sneeze

She sneezed, although she wasn’t sure why. Was it the air? The trees? The perfume of the lady on the bus next to her? It didn’t matter.

He looked at her, his blue eyes smiling even though his face wasn’t. She smiled and shrugged her shoulders, letting him know it was nothing. She loved him, and he’s never spoken to her.
