worthwhile

This moment right here made it all worthwhile. All the pain, all the suffering, all the torturous waiting…
I realized that I would have endured it all over again if it meant I got to walk down that isle.
I looked up at his smiling face, waiting, waiting waiting….
But not for much longer.

dying

“No, my dear. I…I’m dying. There’s nothing you can do. But remember this.” Mother pressed her hand to my heart. “I loved you, so much.”
And with that, she faded into the black oblivion of death.

willpower

I concentrated on the metal ball on the table in front of me, briefly giving my mentor a nervous look.
“Go on,” Master said encouragingly. “You can do it.”
Focusing on the ball, I reached out my hand towards it, and, merely by my own willpower, it lifted off of the table about two feet, wobbling after a second before crashing back down.

illuminate

Illuminate the darkness, fill it with light. Spread the Word to all of the corners of the earth.
Show them Jesus.
Show them Light.
Show them Hope.
Show them Love.
Glow.
Shine.
Illuminate.

serious

“I’m serious, Katie, this isn’t funny.”
Not funny? “Uh, yeah it is.”
Billy had come up to me five minutes earlier asking to use my shower. Turns out someone had spilled a smoothie on top of his head and now he looked all pink.
“Please, Katie, it’s dripping into my eyes.”

unfair

“It is so unfair!” Sally cried. “Josh and Leah get all the cool missions, and here I am over here just saving cats from trees!”
Katie rolled her eyes, exasperated. “You’re too dramatic. You’ll get your shot someday, I promise- just be patient.

icy

Icy roads were dangerous. You could get hurt. Don’t slip. Be careful.
Bla bla bla.
He’d heard it a million times from his dad.
If only he had listened that one time.
Maybe then he would have lived.

sunny

It was a sunny day, no clouds in sight. The grass was green and damp with dew from the morning, and the trees towered high above, sending cool shadows as shelter from the heat. It was a perfect day- well, until IT happened.

related

We were related? No, not only were we related, but we were twins?
No. Jake and I had been best friends for ever since I could remember. Now we’re twenty three, and I had thought that I had fallen for him. He had been about to propose when both got phone calls to meet my Grandmother in the park where she had given us the surprising news- to which I stormed away, angry and extremely sad.

bound

It was bound to go wrong. The whole plan was.
They were going to fail.
Those were the thoughts going around in Billy’s head as he watched his friends gather supplies.
They’d need rope. A flashlight…. John wouldn’t go anywhere without a few candy bars.
They were going to need a lot of luck if they were going to succeed, that’s for sure.

farther

There she was, drifting farther and farther away from him. He was always busy; always working or hanging out with his friends, never remembering that she loved him and was waiting.
But she was okay with it. It was her fate, to wait for him.

stall

I opened up the stalls, letting all the horses run free under the stars. As I crept home I knew that even though I could quite possibly be caught and put in trouble, it was worth it. They didn’t deserve to be locked up.

relieved

John finally stopped running, relieved that they had finally lost him. He looked back, and not seeing anyone, he pulled a little box out of his jacket pocket and opening it up to see……

He stood in the fortress, thinking about the war that raged ahead of him. People were dying, hundreds a day, and the injured were being carted in for treatment all through the nights.

willow

I sat on the branch of the willow tree that hung over the lake a mile away from my house. I still couldn’t believe it. My shoulders shook as I leaned against the strong trunk.
Mom was gone.
Dead.

brave

“He was so brave, riding out into battle like that,” she thought as she watched her love from the castle tower window. He rode out on his trusted steed, his silver armor glinting in the sunlight as his army rode behind him.
She knew that they’d win. She knew that good would prevail. The thing that she was worried about was that his life would be the price to bring them victory.
She wiped tears from her eyes and turned away from the window. And then she waited.
Waited to see if he would come back.
Waited for his touch.
Waited for his smile.
And she waited until her dying day.

flock

There was a large flock of geese flying high above my head. I watched as one little bird fell behind , trying to keep up with his friends.
That’s what I felt like.
Like everyone else was far ahead, and all I could do was watch them go while I struggled to keep going.

unfolding

I saw the beautiful piece of cloth, unfolding from the hands of the two men. On it was embroidered a picture of me and my love. I still have that cloth, and it is one of the things I hold dearest.

And then he heard the deafening sound of construction equipment.
“What are they doing?”
“I don’t know all the details, only that our home won’t be there when they finish.”

“Well I do have a few… conditions.”
“What do you mean?”
“I want you here at sunset. Bring it.”
“It? I’m afraid I don’t know what you mean.”
“You’ll figure it out.”

blemish

There was a blemish on her soul. She would never be the same. There was a little black spot on her heart that she was trying with all her might to get rid of, but it just wouldn’t go.
She had killed someone.
And it would haunt her for the rest of her life.

candid

He responded in a most candid way, saying exactly what he thought.
“Truthfully, I don’t know. I don’t know whether we’ll make it out this time. There, I said it. But we can still try. We can’t give up hope.”

interest

He realized his interest in her when he finished her 200,000 word novel. It was written with precision and passion, from her heart. It reflected her soul, her thoughts, and her life in general. When he flipped the last page, he knew that he loved her.

I am interested in a lot of things, but the biggest interest I have is in being kind. It is an interest, an obsession, and a goal. I hope that I manage to be kind to the people around me, just like I would have them do to me.

fishing

I’m gunna go fishin. I don’t know where, or what I’ll catch or who I’ll bring with me. I just know that I have my mind set on going fishing, and ain’t nothing gunna stop me. Whether rain or shine, snow or hail, I’m gunna go. You join me?

I went fishing one Saturday. I came home that same Saturday. I got nothing that Saturday. You see, that’s just my luck as far as fishing goes. But hey, I think that I still might try it again, next Saturday, maybe.

duct

Duct tape: my mortal enemy. Ever since that day, twenty years ago in the middle of September, when the high school kids used it to tape me to the wall. I didn’t get down for three hours.

cutest

She had the cutest bow in her hair. Her cheeks were chubby. Her smile could light up the room. Her laugh was infectious. I can’t believe she’s mine- ours. I can’t believe something could be so beautiful. Gods greatest gift. Amelia. Happy 1st birthday.
