stand

She stands in front of him, tears running down her face. “How can you do this to me?” she asks.
“I’m sorry. I thought I did the right thing,” he explains with his head down. “Well, you just lost me, Harvey,” she says and takes a step back away from the man she used to call her future. His head snaps up to look at her. His expression makes her regret she said what she said, but enough is enough. “Just…don’t talk to me. Don’t call me. You crossed the line this time, Harvey,” she whispers through the wind billowing around them. She shakes her head and turns around. “No, Charlie, don’t do this…” Harvey begs as he reaches out to her, but she pulls away and continues to walk faster. “Charlie!” he shouts, but she pretends not to hear. Harvey looks down at the pavement because he cannot stand to see his future walking away from him.

watchtower

When sit and look outside of my window on the 22nd floor in brooklyn, ny, sometimes I feel as if I am on top of the world. Brooklyn is changing, and some say that it will soon be the new Manhattan. Ive only been here for about a month so I have no idea what this city has in store for me. I am eager to meet new people and expand my network. The more i know, the higher I rise, which again, reminds me of a watch tower. Currently, because I am new to the city, I am feeling a bit like an island in the middle of the ocean, observing everything around me and trying to determine where I fit into the large abyss of commotion around me. Although it may be lonely at times, I still find peace in knowing that I am on the right track and moving closing to my ideal life. I definitely and testing my boundaries and my comfort zone, which, in my opinion, means that I am progressing and evolving into the brave, strong, intelligent, influential, successful person that I want to me. I am eager to start my rotational program that will open up a variety of doors for me and I can’t wait to learn about topics that I don’t even know that I do not know. Knowledge is limitless and I plan to soak up as much as I can while I am on this earth and pass it on.

repressed

sad – Egypt – tough – I’m feeling like it’s the word for Egypt nowadays. This too shall pass. Don’t feel it too often on the personal level. I can find a way out.

punished

He punished the woman with a stick. Then she punished him with a carrot and then they punished the cat with a broom, that was not nice. The cat punished the mouse with his tail. He wagged it against the mouse

boots

Little Sally loved to play,
She played in the rain all day.
Before she’d go outside her mother would say,
“Sally, don’t forget your boots, wouldn’t want to catch a cold today.”

My wife is hassling me to write about this word that I see: “hassle”, ironic really.

hurry

I was reading this book called Watermelon where she goes back from Dublin to Ireland and everyone is in a hurry. She felt out of place. While every day I wish I wasn’t in Auckland that I could go home to New York or somewhere a little bit more in touch with the rest of the world, I suspect that after two years living here I might feel a little out of place in the Big Bad States. I wonder if everything will feel hurried. My life, work, friends, pace of life….

clipped

Anything to avoid this moment: Run and hide under the bed. Do something cute so they’ll get a toy out. Spend a while in the litter box making those ftt ftt noises in the sand. Find a really high place to perch. Do not want claws clipped!

insect

Insect was the name we picked for our band. Jimmie A. really meant to call it Incest, but everyone knows he can’t spell. So that’s how Insect came to be Insect. Our logo is a big black ant — I kind of shudder to think what it would’ve been had we actually gone with Incest as our name.

trusted

I was once trusted by everyone who would look at me, they would tell me their stories, their pains and their fears.
But after sometime I grew old, and instead of talking to me, people would run.

keychain

Keychains are fun. I remember when I was in elementary school and everybody was making their own keychains out of beads. Shit. There were butterflies and lizards and all kinds of neat creatures. Everyone made them. Good times. I loved elementary school because of trends like that. The cool thing to do was give your lizard a really long tail with the beads, so then whenever you walked by anyone, the tail would get stuck to them or their stuff. That was the best. It’s wacky stuff like that that make me wish I was still a kid.

under

He was feeling under the weather, so he enlisted his go-to cure — porno. With his cool-guy shades and retro chapeau, he ducked into the newsstand on the corner and perused the titles. His lids grew heavy from the cold medicine as his eyes rested on his choice.

keypad

I typed the numbers into the keypad, careful to avoid the SEVEN, which was not just lucky happenstance – no PIN of mine will ever have a SEVEN – devil’s number, no matter what you’ve heard about it’s neighbor to the left.

vulture

He called it The Vulture. Shitty brown paint job like the wings, and fucked up fender like the beak. Loud-ass engine like that scary CAW CAW CAW you supposedly heard overhead before it came down to eat you.

skate

I always wanted to learn to skate, but always it was fear that held me back. Fear of falling, and fear of the pain that would follow. And the embarrassment. In fact, I experienced both of these long after those fears developed, when a skate competition forced me out of the rink on all fours, and I had my hand run over by one of the competitors, during her warm up. True story.

trained

I knew she was well-trained; she received a swat on the ass if his dinner wasn’t ready at 6 o’clock, or his shirts weren’t ironed properly. How he had conducted her training was something of a mystery however, the private matters of a husband and his property.

neglect

She knew he had suffered neglect, she saw all the signs. Her degree in social work did not allow even the tiniest hint to escape her glance. In fact, the time she saw that ice-cream-smeared girl all skinny as a rail, she read it all wrong, she would admit.

mental

You shouldn’t be so judgmental. Live and let live. People want to have sex with their sisters, fine. People want to eat shit, fine. People want to put puppies in the blender, I’ll hit puree. Just leave me out of it. Don’t question me. Live and let live.
