speeding, freeing, flying.

crashing, halting, grounded.

this is a chore. i’m trying this new cross-over activity where i cry while i do the chores. it’s wonderful. i get to purge in the majors ways possible as my plates become grease-free. i wonder if tears have cleaning agents in them.

An everlasting plague
has come upon me
I drown
I sink
I drown

An everlasting plague of sadness. Something I’ve been trying to get out of.

If I could sum up all that I’ve created in one word, it would be “backspace”. So often I write or draw or paint or compose, and so often it could be something great, but then I hit a low and I see no option but to destroy it. These pieces are lost to time, these pieces which could have been so great. There is no retrieval. And that is the sin of the backspace.

Romance, a topic that eluded me. Romance, something that everybody contemplated, that everybody valued, that still remained a mystery to me. I saw couples of all sorts walk past me, dance, kiss, and I knew nothing of it.

I guess that’s what made me so bitter about the whole affair. Which was why it surprised me so much when romance struck a person like me.

The engine whirred to life and with it I felt freedom. I could not perceive at that moment in time exactly where the car would lead me, but I felt, for once, like it didn’t matter. As I accelerated past, I felt the eyes of people rest on me in shock, in shame, in fear. And yet, it did not matter to me at all; I was free.

I lean on everything: trees, railings, shoulders, chairs. That does it mean to lean, is it physical or emotional. I guess it can be a bit of both, but it’s always comforting to have something or someone to hold you up.

This is where we live: south
of rain, north of soil, at the level
of strobe lightning on the night horizon
Valhalla’s Fourth of July.
My plastic cup of chardonnay quivers,
quiets a fog of qualms in the cabin.
We pay the price of being gods
of distance who can’t stop the plane
from shaking like a snapped dishrag.
I think of nursery rhyme giants
bowling our heads. We are not giants, though
we have mastered Odysseus’ trick
and zoom twixt Scylla and Charybdis, while Homer
Simpson plays on the back of all the seats.
Luggage in the compartments rattles.
In cabin socks, we feel like imps in Olympus.
Numb toes will touch down and we’ll wheel
our carry-ons down the escalators
and try to locate improbable ground,
find our balance on the freeway,
in speed we need. Then in a flash of surprise, Zeus comes from the sky and after raping you proceeds to turn you into a cow. Can’t fly anymore sucker.

Grace was the name of this little slut that belonged to my old boss. At 16 she had an iphone and a modeling contract and gave it all up to be a star. Her one claim to fame was when she was 3 months old and played a baby in my boss’ one claim to fame “A Modern Affair” where a single woman has a midlife crisis and goes to a sperm bank to conceive a child, which belongs to Stanley Tucci and she goes to find him and of course they fall in love. Grace was the baby. Grace is now a model for Sunnyside Sperm Bank Society.

Pedals are man-made inventions that have various purposes. Bike pedals are for propelling a bicycle forward. Piano pedals are for making the sound flow. Pedals comes from the word ped for foot.

There are options for everything. Reading, anime, music, and whatever else that you think about. It is hard to write about just what “options” would mean because you only have sixty seconds and the words is just so inexplicably vast. Without options, you’d be left with one, and that would be the epidomy of boring.
