What is done cannot be undone. As cliche as it is, and as permanent a statement it is, maybe the statement itself can be undone. Maybe it’s temporary. So maybe what should be said is what can be undone cannot be done. Maybe we’re just meant to be lost in translation.

There used to be two apple trees where I used to live, their branches hanging over the fence from the neighboring house. We used to eat, throw, play with them, acting like they’d always be there. They were always there, but we weren’t. We left the apple trees, and now we don’t know whether they live on or not. We just know that there were apple trees at one point, and we were there to enjoy them.

We are in a domestic time, an era that is as close to perfection as possible. A generation that allows the rich the privilege of burdening the poor with all their worries. This is the culture in which it’s okay to be yourself, no matter how wrong it is, and it’s okay to be wrong, no matter how much of yourself you’re not. What a time to be alive, with no morals or virtue, just self entitlement.

We compete with each other everyday. Whether we know it or not, we are always living to outdo others. You can say it’s ambition, selfishness, or whatever you’d like to call it, but the fact is it’s always there.

She’s eating her sushi with chopsticks, and I’m not sure whether I should tell her that’s wrong, or just eat without them so that she might catch on. This date is going great other than this dreadful analysis.

Elm trees all over the place, surrounding us like tall elders drooping their arms to hold our hands. Elm st. is quite the unusual place.
