frown

she looked at me so sharply it was as if her eyes could cut.
i had probably said something racist,
or mean. at least, something that she didn’t like.
her mouth puckered a little and the ends began to point
down; her eyes narrowed slightly and her nose wrinkled.
this was a warning sign, that i should stop.
but
what would happen if i didn’t? what would happen if i
turned from her knifelike gaze and continued on?
that was something i would never know.

her frown was something i didn’t want to challenge

huddled

It was cold. So cold. Bitter wind whipped our faces. We did what we could to keep warm, but we didn’t have much but ourselves. We huddled together our faces close, hoping, praying that this would make the cold a little less unbearable.

Cold. It was so cold. Our breath could be seen. We needed warmth and we only had each other. And so we huddled together. It was not much better, but it was comforting. And I think that’s what we needed. Comfort.

unknown

you’re that person on the street corner, you’re that boy in the supermarket uniform I’d see every day on the way home from school, you’re that woman who smiles as we pass each other on the bridge. you are the known unknown. you are the physical ghosts with unknowable smiles.

brotherhood

The man nodded his shrouded head slowly, the candlelight flickering. “Welcome to the brotherhood,” he said, reaching out a gloved hand for Michael to shake. Reaching forward, Michael clasped his hand and felt a growing fear permeate his body.

oblique

“I’m afraid I don’t actually know the meaning of oblique, Charlie,” I said, pushing my eyeglasses back up onto my nose. His eyes sparkled at me, glinting with untold mirth.

capture

the image captured in my mind. like a bullet from a gun fired at high speed, and shot from a long point of view. The capture hurt the image craved into my mind so suddenly. like a bullet, the image captured.

residue

the residue hid on the greasy window pain that wiped away my tears of hope.
It killed the weakness and love the made my heart beat.

shuffle

That’s what it feels like. I can’t walk, and I definitely can’t run. I can only shuffle along behind everyone else shuffling along behind everyone else shuffling along behind everyone else shuffling along and I’m sure, somewhere, there are people who have split from this everlasting line, but they’re not here, in infinity.

solitaire

a lonesome game that one plays when they have no friends to turn to.

» Posted By finn On 11.17.2011 @ 1:46 pm

Solitaire is my go-to avoidance technique. And I suppose it is me in a nutshell. I am so happy – no, not happy but content – on my own, and I feel like no one can see that… And everyone worries. Everyone worries that I am so lonely. Of course I am lonely but it is better than the alternative, it is better than pain.

hearts

hearts open to each other,
snuck into eachother.
secret silence.
Baby dreams upon white rabbits,
love replaced over and over.

abstract

the way my mind works seems abstract, everything fleeting, in no definitive order, no shape or reason.

castle

castles are majestic creatures looming high in the heavens. Most are filled with evil spirits and secret chambers unknown to 99.9% of people. I have never seen a castle before and thank god for that.

skeleton

Are creepy, and weird. Scary. They make me think of The Wire when lime was used to decompose the bodies quicker. Halloween, I guess, too. Bad homemade costumes.

violent

The clouds parted exactly as they’re always meant to and never do, and all of a sudden the rain fell down on me like it really did want me to die. I like rain a lot, but like a father you love when it is violent you fear it more than anything. I tried to keep walking, but sometimes things hold you back.

megaphone

“Hello, boys and girls, and welcome to the game.”
A hundred men and women were lost in the stadium, and could only answer to the unknown voice of the megaphone. This was not what they had expected when they had bought tickets to Saturday’s ‘game’.

failed

You haven’t failed, I promise you that. How could you fail me? I’ve failed myself by having such expectations. I’ve failed myself by being so blind. You’ve not failed me at all, for you’ve only been what, deep down, I knew you always were. I shouldn’t have expected more, yet I did. I failed us.

» Posted By Finn On 06.24.2011 @ 11:23 am

But you haven’t failed, because what is there to win at? You will die. That’s the end of it. No matter what you’ve achieved, or haven’t, soon enough you will be gone from this place and it will all be forgotten. So don’t worry about failing, because it just isn’t possible.

plans

We all make plans. We make plans to make plans and make deadlines and schedules to get those plans done. Yet despite it all, the best work is done without stressing over the time it’s taking. The best ideas are taken from inspiration.

controller

you use it to control the television and other electronic things. It’s square and it has got a lot of buttons on it. And it’s grey and it’s got batteries in it and it’s funny and it can help you so that you don’t have to stand up every time you want to change the channel to the television. It’s very handy! it’s great. I love it. it’a

split

It seems like we’ve met before, and I don’t know where. Do you? Do you remember the time before we were torn into halves and cast in opposing directions and set to search, desperate, for the missing pieces in between? I don’t recall, and this empty, sinking void within my memory is troubling.

driven

It was dark
And the leaves covered up my lights
I’m sorry that the road brought us this way
But we would have collided
Whatever happened.

smiles

Why do they that smiles can light up your day? They can’t, you know. Sure, sometimes they can. But when you’re having the worst day in the world no number of mouth muscle contractions can make you feel any better.

gong

It’s a big big noise that hurts my ears; please don’t tell me it’s not over; please don’t tell me it is; I don’t know what I’m doing. Please keep playing that big big noise so I don’t have to listen to anything else.
