The work was incredibly tedious: a bit of paint here, a dab of water there. But the end result was worth it. Miles of painted landscape, as far as the eye could see.

“Oh, come on Hannah,” said Olivia hurriedly. “Who cares about her? We can just exclude her and no one will care.”

the indian settlement was just across the river. i do not know why we moved here in the first place, though obviously i would not have had any say in it, anyhow. anyways, all the other pioneers that had moved with us were camped beside us.

i was the least qualified to have been chosen as one of them. but the Goblet doesn’t lie, and my name had been pulled out of it. don’t ask me why; i just had been. everybody was staring at me as my name was read out loud for the whole school to hear. our representative had just been named, but as my name was pulled out, everybody knew there was never just one victor- at least not here. not here; where all the people know about me. of course they thought i was the one who put my name in the Goblet, but i knew it was somebody else. someone who didn’t want me here-or anywhere- at all.

Tais looked up to the sky, it was endlessly blue, not a cloud was in sight. She sighed, wishing more days could be like this. Peaceful yet full.

The starlit night was perfect for the suicide.
It seemed poetical, actually. “The tragic hero taking one last look at the milky-white moon as he slits the gleaming knife across his throat…”
He wasn’t going to romanticize the situation, of course. But death on a starlit night seemed like a pretty good way to go.

i have no idea what this means, so don’t judge me. actually, my mom just told me that it means that you’re like famished. if that’s what it means, then i’m always ravenous, because i’m always hungry.

The world is bound to destroy itself. Not through the economy or global warming, but through stupidity and the lack of learning.

some of us dont want the world to end. we struggle with the fear that others are too stupid to stop themselves from eating everything they see, greedily leaving only crumbs behind. the children are angry, but sleepy in the forest.

Sound and music bring me more joy than any other sensation in the world. The melodies of great composers, or the simplicity of a baby’s coo… Everything works in harmony.

I’ve had it said to me before. Oh dear, you make it seem so simple! Ha. As if anything I do is simple. It’s all a convoluted process.

sun rise, sun set. we rise, we sleep. pull, push. give, take. every action has a reaction. some see one as positive, and the other as negative, but it’s all in the perception of the beholder.

a library: the only place where dragons fly among the musical masterpieces of Mozart. Where the cat in the hat can rendezvous with Archie and the gang, while Sherlock deduces who stole the cookie from the cookie jar. the library is a place where the possibilities are endless, and anything is possible.

satisfy my cravings for food, water, the necessities as well as satisfying my craving for otherworldly things like love, honesty, knowledge. things that are untangeable. satisfaction, like the rolling stones, and countless others, have sung, is something we all yearn for, but what are we willing to do to obtain it?

I spent five dollars on a 60-page book. I spent three on a pack of gum. I spent twelve dollars on a heavy-metal CD set for a boy I spent seven months of stress on. I spent six months of time on another boy who’d spend more on me.

Two of the four were worth it.

Sometimes when I am at my quietest, when I am simply sitting composed and observant, I am in reality at my angriest, most charged state. My father told me that I do not yell as others do. Instead I speak tersely and softly and deliberately. I speak in a way that creates a dam to hold back my flooding roar.

Banging, shaking, yelling, screaming. My mind is fighting an on going battle that I don’t know how to end. I don’t know how it will end. Banging. Shaking. Yelling. Screaming.

They walked down the street slowly. The wind was crisp and smelled of decompostion as it swirled the leaves in a funnel around them. Their feet slapped the pavement as silent understanding passed between the two companions. No words were required; they had an understanding that sometimes it was best to be together and yet by themselves.
