It isn’t practical, for me to keep you in the back of my mind. Keeping any thought of you is like keeping a pair of sneakers I’ve run down so badly they mimic talking to strangers – at least their jabber is amusing.

I watch the snow fall in waves around me – it floats when I look at it from the top but as I follow it down, it crashes. It reminds me of you and how you killed what we would never have. Just like the snow, you raised a rusted spike high in the air and I watched as it gracefully fell down towards that imagining thing between us, and then I watched as it crashed into the ground because nothing was really there.

Materials? What materials are really needed in moments like this? Moments where you don’t know where you stand. Moments where you don’t know who you are or what you’re doing with your life. Materials are only useful in moments when facts mean something, not those moments when your inner strength has been shaken from the core and needs repairing. Materials are useless in the battle against yourself.

It isn’t for certain why I haven’t returned your phone call, but I think my fingers know that I shouldn’t. Why? Because they haven’t even bothered to hit redial and it’s been a week since you called. I think I’m certain we’re dead — that you’re memory has become nothing more than a fallen Maple leaf that I step on as I go about my day. I’m fairly certain.
