moon

Love, compassion and Barry. I liked looking at the moon when camping, thinking about God and creation and giving thanks for all my blessings. The kind old face of the man in the moon, how artful God was and is.

I have no idea what that word means but it sounds like it should be to do with a mountain or strong willed and stuff like that.

eternal

The best and worst thing about my older sister was that she wanted her childhood to be eternal. I remember a time when I was merely five years old, beating up a kid on the playground with my backpack full of rocks for pushing her down. I remember her twelve year old figure hunched in front of the TV, laughing genuinely at Barney the Dinosaur. I remember a lot of things. Mostly, the way life tore her apart.

late

The time i could not keep,
lost here for days or weeks.
Standing here dreaming of other places
where late cannot speak.

bandages

sometimes we get hurt, actually we all get hurt whether on the inside or out there is a wound we sometimes cant always see and bandages are always there to pick us back up. bandages are like our secret warriors. hiding in different places around our house or in our parents’ bags always willing to come out and save us in situations that we are out of control with. bandages provide that extra comfort, that dull packaging gives us hope that we can someday take it off and become independent, separated from our bandage that only supported us.

crust

Crust is not my favorite thing. I tend to eat around the crusts on bread. But pie crusts are actually my favorite part of the pie. Where did the word come from? A foundation? Crust of the earth? I don’t concern myself with crusts very much.

straw

I fumbled through the tall stacks of dry, yellow straw. “Maybe it’s here”, I thought knowing in the pit of my stomach it wasn’t true. Finally, sunburnt and tired, I forfeited to the grass, and sat down in desperation.

morals

Moeals today are near non existant. Maybe that is s just what I se ev in my world. Money is the ruler. People forget morals when money is involved and money is involved in everyrhing. Help.

eyeliner

Putting it on her eye she frowned. Why did she put this horrid stuff on her eyes every morning? Was it because society wanted her to be someone she wasn’t? She wanted to walk out of the house without it, but she couldn’t. She just couldn’t. The way people would make fun of her, or at least she thought they would, she just couldn’t face their teasings. She had no idea if they would tease her either. She just couldn’t take that risk.

usually comes from within

trains are always noisy. i dont think anyone thought of that while making the first one. why do people need trains anyway? we have planes, boats and cars now. seems weird to me, but then again, I’m here writing about it.

scarf

Put it on to hide yourself or beautify but it may be too small or it may be to “loud”. If you are quick you may use it to make magic—of whatever type. Scarves have gone out of fashion. That’s too bad.

mantle

Her hand gripped the mantle until her knuckles turned to bone, she could not believe her eyes. Why her, why now. And who would know. Know the secret that has been buried in her memory since her wedding day. Now she had only a few minutes to find a way to let the secret be known. The mantle coverings was a lid that had been locked for over 50 years.

aisle

as i was perusing through the aisles one by one, i came upon one which made me stop. on the shelves were hundreds of canned animals, cut up into chewable little peices and perserved for ultimate freshness. i read through the lables, cows, chickens, lambs, turkeys. i pictured the animals in their living state and could not imagine buying a can of their death, taking it home and cooking it up for my children.

natural

Nothing is natural about a teenager. They are crazed and controlled by hormones. ONe minute they are up in your face and the next, they are asking for a ride to the skating rink. I can’t figure them out, even though I vowed to remember…

toy

My daughter has lots of toys that she plays with. Baby dolls and other dolls are most common. She really likes balls and anything that makes noise. We have a ton of toys around here that never get played with but for some reason we never throw anything away. Probably because we think she’ll want to play with it as soon as it’s gone and we’d feel bad.
