scientific

Oh it’s all very scientific looking. The vials and the intricate glass tubing, the petri dishes and the Bunsen burner. Even the old man in the long white coat, as he turns lead to gold.

entwined

Our lives are entwined, all of us. Friends and relation, neighbors, those we have not met yet and those we never will. Our destinies are tangled in an incomprehensible web.

frazzled

That’s me. Coming home from a long day at work, made longer by the mismanagement with which i deal daily. Walking n the house dead tired to find it dirty and foul smelling, another job always laying ahead with never an end in sight.

strike

Strike one! Strike two! I never could get into baseball. I like going to a game on occasion. It’s more the whole experience than the game itself I like. I wish I could like it though, it seems like the thing to do and my Grandfather watched the entire season each year.

auburn

Her hair was auburn, that’s all I can remember. Well, not really all, I remember how she made me feel, just her presence. The way her look could touch my soul. But I cannot for me life remember anymore.

vines

Old dry vines covered the side of the building. The door, partially engulfed by their growth stood half open, intriguing and inviting.

bronze

A tall bronze statue, taller than a man stood guarding the doorway. It was an imposing figure and he thought to himself that he would hate to find the man who had posed for the sculpture standing beyond the heavy doors.

listening

Talking when nobody’s listening is the worst thing there is . Pouring out your inner most thoughts and feelings, laying your soul bare only to discover nobody cares enough to hear you is a truly crushing experience.

bricks

Old bricks lying in the woods, moss covered and broken. Silent remnants of a once warm home, forgotten like the structure they once held.

cities

Travelling through the center of what is considered a grand city I was struck by the majesty of the towering buildings and the slums beneath. I was at one in awe of human accomplishment and connected to it’s constant pain and struggle.

covert

I want many things from life, covertly. I think many things about people, covertly. I make grand and impossible plans, covertly. And I am happy only covertly.

overt

Their disdain is rather overt, much more than they likely realize. It shows in their actions and seeps itself into each and every word they utter. It shows in their faces most when they try to hide it with a smile.

turbine

A noisy turbine roared in the distance, almost drowning his own thought. Almost. His mind raced as quickly as his feet moved across the slippery deck.

repeat

Repeating the same old things is an easy rut to fall into. I fell in once; wore my rut so deep I could barely see thew sky above me. Not that I ever dared to look up. Looking up was hard enough but, the climb back up is the real challenge.

thread

A single thread hung off my shirt. Just a single thread that made my otherwise new outfit look tattered and unkempt. A quick pull to rid myself of the problem only made it worse.

answers

Everyone wants answers. Why things happen, the meaning of life. Everyone searches for them. People spend their whole lives searching. Perhaps the time is better spent asking if those questions really matter at all.

corner

I met her at the corner, outside the convenience store, her and a half finished box of Jack Daniels cola. They haven’t made that in years, not that she would drink it if they did, but she stopped being fun long before that.
