I stand by the crosswalk everyday; waiting for her. I search for her face among the crowd everyday. But she’s not there anymore.

They said the procedure would be simple. Just a few alterations here and there; nothing major. They lied.

I lifted the thin translucent material. So thin between my fingers and yet try as I might I could not manage to even make a scratch on the damn thing.

The old man had been lethargic as of late. Despite the frequent visits from “concerned” family, he seemed to have given up. I can’t say i blame him. When the only things you have to look forward to every day are conversations consisting primarily of poorly disguised prying questions about your will, you tend to increase how cynical outlook on life is. That being said, I never expected what he did.

Not a single one of them looked up at me. They hung their heads avoiding my pleading gaze. None of them spoke out on my behalf. None moved to stop what was happening. They stared at the liquor slick floor and let me take the blame.

There was an overt hostility present in the room and she was intent on leaving as soon as the doors opened.

there was nothing welcoming about the place. the house looked dilapidated. grayed paint chipping, wood cracking, windows broken, yellowed curtains, facade crooked. the thing was falling to pieces. yet i found myself standing at the door; placing a shaking hand on the cold tarnished knob.

I’ve never been interested in the fast pace of a city or the glamour of high fashion. I’ve been too busy being enraptured by the babbling brooks and the wonder of changing leaves.

Security is being wrapped in their arms on a dark stormy night. security is being 3000 feet up and free fall while not having a worry in the world.

Stay active. That’s what they always say. They never say what to stay active in though.

it would be my utmost pleasure to demonstrate the destructive powers at work here that normally go unseen. But what fun is there in dissolving the mystery?

We didn’t reach the proper footage. Off by so little. Too little too much. And now falling because we couldn’t reach the other side

they had to burrow down and down. deeper and deeper still until they reached as far as they could. when at last they stopped they could only hope that it would be support enough.

it was quiet on the metro aside from the recurring drone of wheels on track. the even inervals of sound and slight jostling was almost theraputic. it could lull you to sleep under the right circumstances. above all, late at night when all the world is chaotic, it offers peacefull escape of monotany; a retreat of simplicity.

that was the end of it. he was to be dealt with according to the laws of the land. because of his crime against the family they were to decide his fate. he would be punished as they saw fit with a penalty fitting the crime

there were specks of flour scattered about her clothes and face. the smell of bread permeated the entire house. brushing the white powder from her brow i could not help but think how peaceful she looked lying there.

vines hung down from the banisters on the second floor and reached up from the ground like arms reaching for each other to embrace. or perhaps teeth enclosing around their victim.

there was a very faint smudge of blood on the sink still. a rather odd sight for you see i was normally rather meticulous when it came to cleaning up after work.

Wheat. Wheat was the basis of our lives. Seasons revolved around it. It was all that mattered. You see that was the problem. We had nothing else to support or sustain us no backup plans; just the slender, golden, swaying crop that the earth yielded up to us time and again. The world had put all its eggs into one basket because the basket worked. It was riding smoothly in the hand of an unknown force, the only force. But that was then.

The stem of the rose has many thorns. A single stab to a finger can send the poison of love in your veins. Most avoid that wound, but some are brave enough for love.
