instigator

She stared right through me. She knew that I knew. And she knew that I knew that she knew. It was all her fault. It all started with her. Now that I think about it, it makes perfect sense.

improv

I walked in to the theater and wasn’t really expecting much. A friend had invited me to his improv show, and I agreed to go and show my support. He wasn’t the best at this in real life, but maybe, just maybe, he’d be better on the stage. At his own show.

geometric

I couldn’t see past the lines. The many shapes. They all got in the way of what was really there. Why were there so many triangles?! Polygons?! Ugh!

I turned the corner. My head was starting to hurt.

There was a door.

disciple

Following.
Following.
Following around.
That’s all we do.
Aren’t we supposed to work or something?
Can this be all there is?
Following.
Following.
Following.
When we should be doing.
This discipleship isn’t what I thought it was going to be.
Following.
Following.

stereotype

It was so loud.
It invaded and
It permeated into me.
“Look at me!!!!”
It screamed.
“Here I am!!!!”
It pointed out, and
It jumped up.
I’m everything you say I am.

brisk

The chilly wind hit my face as I walked down the street. I was hoping it wasn’t going to be this cold, but I guess the weatherman hates me. The wind nipped at my nose and froze my cheeks, turning them this really nice shade of pink. I hate this cold, brisk weather, but I’m going to have to get used to it.

overcooked

The smell coming from the kitchen was overwhelming. I couldn’t wait to taste what was in the oven. Once the timer went off, I arranged the plates and waited, with bated breath, to taste the deliciousness that I was about to experience. One bite….dry. as. hell. Dammit. Overcooked again.

scalp

“Hey! Quit it!”
She wouldn’t stop picking at me. She was on me like a monkey at the zoo. Yes, my scalp itched like crazy, but I didn’t need someone picking at my head like I couldn’t take care of it myself.

stamped

*BOOM*
The stamp seemed to resonate throughout the large, vaulted ceilinged room. It was finally official. No longer did I have to live in fear of not being part of society. I had waited for what seemed like an eternity.

scale

He scaled the wall, gripping each piece of stone that jutted out for his taking. He was going to make it. To the very top. No one was going to stop him. He would find a way. This was his destiny – to climb to the very top.

easygoing

Most people think I’m easygoing. In reality, I just don’t care. If you make it to the point in our relationship where I actually care about you, kudos. Easygoing people…most of them annoy me. Especially the ones that tout themselves as easygoing. It’s usually a lie.

hoping

I’m hoping that I’ve made the right decision.
I’m hoping that what I’ve hoped for is really in my grasp
And not in my imagination.
I’m hoping that those I’ve hurt will forgive me.
I’m hoping that those I love know that I love them.
I’m hoping beyond all hope that there really is a hope to hope for.

coach

It’s not the most comfortable, but it’s all I know. And now I’m drawing a blank. I can’t think of anything to write about coach. It’s a brand, its someone who teaches sports, its a section of the airplane.

undetected

She crept about, sneaking, undetected. She was trying to find out what was going on without anyone knowing. Her curiosity was getting the best of her, and she knew that she would be caught if she kept it up. How could she get the information she was seeking without giving herself away?

sisterhood

I miss my sister. I wish I got to spend more time with her. It was irritating growing up. Having her around. Constantly copying me. It drove me insane. Now she is her own person, and I am mine. We have grown into wise young women and cherish every moment we get to spend together.

up up up and go go go

beer

Mmmmm….
I don’t think its that good.
everyone else likes it.
I’d rather drink wine.
Now wine is something delicious.
Each with its own nuances.
Back to beer.
Wheaty, hoppy, ale-y, lager-y, buttery…
meh.

clasp

he held her hand tightly
as if letting go
would jettison him
into a place
from where he would never return

magenta

Ooooooo…..
one of my favorite colors.
it’s so bright :)
i love it.
I miss when my hair had magenta streaks in it.
one day.
one day
i’ll be able to do my hair in crazy colors again.
stoopid job.
stoopid people.

burrow

deep into the ground she went.
nose first.
tiny paws.
scuffling onward. forward.
her nose could smell it.
she could smell the badger.
i will get it.
i will get the badger.
said the dachshund.

creature

I felt as if it was all around me. The creature enveloping the deepest part of me. Seeping into every orifice and forcing its way into the very fiber of my being.

mumbling

i couldn’t hear him.
i never could.
the words under his breath,
just a whisper,
prying it out.
i still can’t hear him.
dammit.
what did you say?

geometric

i was always good at geometry
something about the angles
and the pictures
the pictures make it easy
the formulas?
those are different
not a fan of algebra
at all.
the shapes though, the angles
i love the straightness
and the curviness of it all.

attracted

immediately to him.
something about the way his hair fell just so.
over his eyes.
intoxicatingly beautiful.
and dangerous.
those are the worst.
you can’t help but fall.
but at the same time
the same attraction is happening on the other end too.
he’s attracted to you.

flour

makes bread.
is the basis for most baked goods.
if you hear it,
you may just think of a colorful field of flowers
bees buzzing
pollinating
and now they’re gone
what to do?
bring more in to die?
what good is that?
now there are still even fewer
bees buzzing
pollinating
