And they danced the night away. They knew, once the night was done, it was all over. So they kept dancing. And dancing. And dancing some more. Moments of sheer bliss. Moments of wonder. All trying desperately to stave off the morning.

They stalked across the field. Slowly. With purpose. No matter how quickly Ned ran, whenever he turned around, there they were. Shambling just behind him. He quickened his pace.

We made it back to the camp. It was just a short trek, but we really weren’t sure we’d make it. Cal needed to be helped during the final leg. The wolves got him pretty bad. We think he’s going to make it, but it was pretty scary.

All they had was my earring. Yet, somehow that was enough to track me down. Somehow their “wizards” and obsessives at their lab performed some kind of magic and traced me. From an earring that I dropped on the […]

She sat there, hunched over her desk. They were the same notes she had been pouring through all day. Maybe they would say something new this time. Hopefully. Her eyes were heavy as she scanned through the same […]

  • S.K. Kramer commented on the post, entice 7 years, 5 months ago

“Could I entice you to try this?” he asked.
“No, it really doesn’t look like something I’d like,” she replied.
    “Not even just one bite?”
    “I’d rather not.”
“What if I tried it first?”
“Do you really want to […]

His head was obscured under a hood. Sleek and red, it draped a shadow over his entire face. I’m sure he wanted it that way. There was no way to read anything about him. No tell. No facial twitches. No body language.

  • S.K. Kramer commented on the post, flip 7 years, 5 months ago

“Come on, it’s an easy flip!” he said. He was laughing. Maybe he was trying to be encouraging, but it just sounded mocking. An easy flip. When you’re twenty feet in the air with no net below you, there’s no […]

  • The attendant walked up to their table and handed them the wrapped bag. A quick nod of his cap and the attendant scurried off. They both looked at the bag with odd, inquisitive looks. It was small, and such an odd shape.

“Just stick with it through the duration of the next part,” they had said. At the time Matt didn’t think it would be that bad. But at the time Matt didn’t understand just how bad the next part was. Now he was […]

  • S.K. Kramer commented on the post, town 7 years, 6 months ago

This town… Sometimes I don’t even know. I can’t take it here anymore. Every street here. Every shop. Every corner. It’s all the fucking same. Always the same. Nothing’s changed here in my entire life, and […]

  • S.K. Kramer commented on the post, weave 7 years, 6 months ago

They raced down the hill, weaving in and out of the treeline in an attempt to stay out of sight. Every once in a while one of them would look back, to check, but they never saw anything. Which was exactly how we wanted it.

  • S.K. Kramer commented on the post, lantern 7 years, 6 months ago

He lit the lantern by the door. It didn’t help much, but it helped a little. Any little bit of light that we could get wasn’t something I should complain about I guess. This was the third night in a row. The […]

  • S.K. Kramer commented on the post, curse 7 years, 7 months ago

She read the curse out loud. Everyone listened to it. No one believed in any of these silly superstitions. The curse seemed to do nothing. We flipped through the book some more. There wasn’t anything […]

  • S.K. Kramer commented on the post, ants 7 years, 7 months ago

They were everywhere! We thought the kitchen was clean. But we went to bed last night and today, ants. Ants everywhere. There are dozens of traps and chemicals that one can buy to get rid of them, but right […]

He didn’t want to go to the carnival. We had fought about it for an hour. I was convinced it would be good for him though. So here we were, at the carnival. I’m not sure what came over me. He wasn’t ready. I […]

  • “Follow it!” she said. That was easy for her to say. The butterfly was fluttering about, but every time I tried getting close, it seemed to be able to anticipate my moves, and flutter just enough to make me look […]

  • S.K. Kramer commented on the post, epic 7 years, 7 months ago

The clap of thunder was unexpected. Ducking quietly behind the bushes they tried to remain as silent as they could. But the thunder forced a gasp from their mouth. It wasn’t loud, but in the still of the night […]

  • S.K. Kramer commented on the post, liberty 7 years, 8 months ago

“Give me Liberty or give me death!” was always the cliched saying. I rather prefer life though. While you’re alive you can always continue fighting for liberty. In death, well you can’t do much of anything then. Which is why I’m running right now, from those guys with the guns.
