As dusk approached, she began to work quicker and quicker. “Come on,” she told herself. “You have to do this.” And as she worked, the space around her began to fill up, trapping her within her own creation.

When Linda had not returned well aftwr dusk, Harry went down to the factory to find her. He found her, all right. Linda’s body was buried…[Read more]

We walked into the art gallery . . . and stopped. Where was all of the art? There was but one measly painting hanging on the wall- one painting in the whole place. I turned to leave, but my dad was impressed. “Wow,” he breathed softly. “Must be quite a painting.” He walked over to it and stood there in awe. He then began to look around wildly.…[Read more]

“Read the bible,” they told us. “Pray.” “Be good Christians.” “Before you act, think to yourself, WWJD?” “Always be heavenly.” “Are your sins forgiven? Repent now!” But you know what? Sometimes, It’s hard. We can’t always be the PERFECT christians that they want us to be. Because in reality, it’s impossible. We CAN’T be perfect, for there was onl…[Read more]

I go to church on sundays and listen to the word of god, but i don’t really feel . . . fulfilled. I read my bible, but am I really being biblical? I know what god wants for me, but I am I being who he wants me to be?

He reached over and tousled my hair. “I’ll love you forever, you know that, right?” he asked me. “Of course,” I responded. “Of course I know that, babe.” But the truth was, I didn’t. I had seen him and Tiffany together yesterday, and if he really truly would “love me FOREVER” than I guess he had a lot of love to go around, because I heard him say…[Read more]

You can go to jail! Don’t drink! Beer pong, Quarters, Funnels, NO! Not whiskey, rum, gin, beer, wine, or vodka! Drinking alcohol will kill you, so don’t do it! Alcohol is…[Read more]

He grabbed the beverage from her. “Thanks.” But if you looked closely enough, you’d see that he was averting his glance from hers, purposely so their eyes wouldn’t meet. He knew that she was giving him a beer, and she knew that he would discard it as soon as he walked away. Neither knew that the other knew, so, eyes down, they carried on with…[Read more]

The bush was burning. It was on fire. The flames licked the sky, and smoke filled the lungs of all those who stood and watched. It soon spread to the house, then the field, and the neighbor’s home. The fire-fighters weren’t quick enough, and soon enough, the whole town was on fire.

What’s your rating? On a scale from 1-10, 50-100? Are 11 out of 10? Or -2 out of 3? Are you extremely good, or extremely bad? Everyone has a rating. What’s yours?

  • Corinne commented on the post, ensue 6 years ago

‘Kay, so I looked up ensue on dictionary.com, but I still don’t really get it. Anyone care to explain it to me?????

    Let’s try this sentence:

The end of the battle ensued yet another war.

    Yes??? or No????

  • Corinne commented on the post, ensue 6 years ago

Ensue? That’s today’s word? I don’t even know what ensue means. Hold on, let me go get a dictionary, and I’ll get right back to you. Once I actually know what it means, I can write a real 1 minute prompt!

BTW, i accidentally wrote this before with the default name that was there so this is original and all mine!

I stared them directly in the eyes. “Give it back,” I said firmly.
Emily sneered. “What are you gonna do, tell my mommy?” She looked at me mockingly. That gave me an idea.
    “Yes,” I told her.
Emily’s expression changed. “No, don’t!” she cried out.
I ran down the road. “Too late!” I shouted, Emily desperately running after me.

Time was running out. I had to win the contest, but not for me- for my family. I grabbed some seeds and stuck them in the large brown planter. I covered them up with dirt and sprinkled it with water. “Done!” I smacked the buzzer in front of me. Everyone looked up in astonishment. I was the first one done. I had won the contest.

  • Corinne commented on the post, checkmate 6 years, 1 month ago

My grandpa and I used to play chess every Wednesday night when he came over. He’d always let me win, except for the occasional times that I arrogantly told him not him. “Checkmate!” I’d call out gleefully. “I’m going to win!” I loved playing chess, but that was years ago. Today, I still see my grandpa, every Wednesday night, but we no longer play…[Read more]

Mumbling. It’s what you do when you when the teacher calls on you but don’t know the answer. It’s what the quiet kid in the back of the room does when the teacher calls on them instead. It’s what you do when you are thinking halfway out loud. It’s people do in awkward situations. It’s what everyone does. They mumble.
