The colour of wheat on a midsummer day when the sun is shining bright, the sky is cloudless, and there’s just a whisper of wind. It’s not too hot; but just right, and I picture myself laying on the grass with you, among the gold of the grain and the sun, and I am content.

zebras, jumpers, scarves, other articles of clothing..lines of colour; one after the other, combining to make a rainbow of aesthetically pleasing art.

As the snow swirls around the buildings and corners and crevices, the figures on the street disappear into a wall of white, bracing against the wind and snow, never to be seen again.

Festive….parties, holidays, getting dressed and dolled up and caught up in the spirit of celebration…grand gowns and fancy dress and mannerisms of times past. Feeling giddy and excited as the collective emotions excite every neuron; diffusing through every fiber of your being…..the party; the festivities….await.

An integral ingredient in baking. Rather messy, and leaves white smudges on clothes, and faces. It goes into making delicious treats; cookies, cakes, pastries, fresh-baked bread. Yum!

Creeping up the old, Victorian-style home that hadn’t seen any inhabitants in years. Ropes of green vines, tangled and spreading everywhere; covering everything in a coat of green which gave off an eerie feeling, like they were trying to hide something.

As a girl who’s grown up on a farm, I’ve seen a lot of wheat. Grain as it comes out of the truck and is taken up into the grain bins, and fields of wheat that seem to stretch on forever over the flat, Saskatchewan prairie landscape. Farm girl at heart.

  • Kerry commented on the post, beware 6 years, 2 months ago

We’re told to beware of a lot of things. As kids, our parents tell us to beware of what seems like everything. It’s because they’re just looking out for us. As we get older, we have to look out for ourselves and we beware of the things that scare us, not the things our parents thought would scare us.

As a farm girl, I’ve been around straw for pretty much my entire life. I’ve climbed all over straw bales and built forts with my sister; we’ve helped roll out straw bales for the cattle.

Engine…a crucial part of a car or a crude way of saying that someone can excite you in ‘that’ way : P
An engine also needs to run well to work; all the parts have to work together–just like any relationship.

I get terrible pins and needles in my foot all the time because I sit with one of my legs tucked under the other : P

My heart flips when you text me, when I see you; when I’m around you. It kills me to know that you don’t feel the same way. I wish you did, and part of me wants to wait for you, but I know I can’t. I flip when you kiss me.

capture a moment with a camera. Freeze-frame of a point in time when everything was perfect. I’ve had some of those moments, but nothing to capture them with; just my memory.

Temper, for me, is anger. I used to have a quick temper, but I’m getting better at controlling myself and learning to take things in stride.
