I almost avoided today’s word. What is this feeling that if I do this something good will come? Why should I want to avoid a mere sixty seconds of writing? Well I can’t say I know.

  • Jim commented on the post, values 5 years, 2 months ago

Values. One can have values, and then behave completely differently. Are values the source of anger? Some anger. Anger itself is a strange emotion.

grateful. Know gratitude. Know salvation. Great saying. Today I’ll try to be more grateful.

  • Jim commented on the post, forefront 5 years, 2 months ago

forefront. What is on the forefront of my mind? forefront. fivefront, sixfront … well that doesn’t work. This is a tough word – a non-react-to kind of word.

  • Jim commented on the post, personality 5 years, 2 months ago

I used to think I didn’t have enough personality for radio. I still don’t know what kind of personality I have. Don Rickles amazes me, as do Robin Williams and Jim Carry. Is there room in their world for anyone else? Do they so totally dominate with their personalities?

  • Jim commented on the post, compete 5 years, 2 months ago

Can I compete with myself? Is that the best kind of competition? Is life a competition or a co-operative? Both, I guess. The usual paradox thing. competition can bring out our best, being social animals and what-no, none of us are in a vacuum.

  • Jim commented on the post, stubborn 5 years, 2 months ago

Halvor was stubborn. Am I subborn? What’s the difference between strong-will, opinated and stubborn? Stubborn is certainly negative. The other’s aren.t.

  • Jim commented on the post, juvenile 5 years, 2 months ago

juvenile. My worry that today’s word was going to be the same as yesterday’s was … perhaps … juvenile. Such a pejorative word juvenile. Yet youth isn’t for the young. It is for adults to enjoy. That is, I think spending time with children, at least mine, is extremely rewarding.

  • Jim commented on the post, nonsense 5 years, 2 months ago

I think it is nonsense that the same word comes up twice in two days. I wonder why this is the case Bob Dylan wrote nonsense that actually was quite sensible. His goofy lyrics are rich with meaning. Well non-sense can be a superficial quality. I guess that’s all the sense I have.

  • Jim commented on the post, nonsense 5 years, 2 months ago

nonsense. Such a dismissive word. Alan Watts like to write about sense and nonsense, something like that. Can you imagine saying something with so little meaning or value that it is dismissed as nonsense? I guess it happens.

  • Jim commented on the post, cold 5 years, 2 months ago

Seriously? This word is on my mind constantly because it is so cold here. I walk outside and I think I’ve forgot to put my pants on. It just goes right through you. And the length of it … the cold snap just keeps going. I didn’t know I could feel so cold.

  • Jim commented on the post, bowtie 5 years, 2 months ago

bowtie. I wore a bowtie at my sister’s wedding. It is too bad, she doesn’t talk to me or anyone else in the family. I’m not sure why. If I had to guess I would say it is because she feels it is the only way to escape “family patterns”. For that then, I think she’s probably doing the right thing. Too bad she couldn’t find another way. Is there one?

  • Jim commented on the post, occupancy 5 years, 2 months ago

I would like to know what is occupying my mind. Is there a difference between “thinking” and “awareness”? Between “thoughts” and “awareness”? I guess occupant and occupancy are different words. The occupancy rate in my head seems rather high sometimes.

  • Jim commented on the post, seated 5 years, 2 months ago

Well I’m glad today’s word isn’t revved. Yes I’m seated, pumped ready for my word. Hmmm …. seated does that mean seated in the theatre, ready to watch the show? Could it mean I have a seat, you know a butt? I guess it also means I’m sitting down here at my computer, seated ready for action. Can you say contradiction?

  • Jim commented on the post, revved 5 years, 2 months ago

Yep I’m annoyed. I’ve got the same word as yesterday. You could say I’m revved about this, but I’m really not. I’m annoyed. Actually, I was revved up to do my oneword, until I saw my word. Then I was disappointed. Sigh. I tried support. Maybe they’ll get back to me?! Ok, well I’m revving up for my next task.

  • Jim commented on the post, revved 5 years, 2 months ago

Yeah I’m revved about today’s word. How is it that we can associate a car engine with our own anatomy? How is it that language is fluid and not exactly solid? Unless you’re a philiosophy I suppose in which case it really wouldn’t be appropriate to talk about one’s revved metabolism.

  • Jim commented on the post, belated 5 years, 3 months ago

There’s certainly nothing like a word to make you think you don’t actually know what it means. Belated? The more I say it the less I actually understand it. Sounds like it means recently deceased … the late … so-and-so. Funny thing how words do that. Say it over and over again.
