I rolled to a stop at the intersection, staring at the glowing, blinding red light above me. It changed to an encouraging green, but when I tried to move forward, all my tires did was spin and screech.

“Maybe you could just wear it as a shirt?” My mom said, attempting to lengthen the straps a centimeter more.

I cringed. It was meant to be a dress, and to wear it as a shirt would compromise it’s integrity altogether. I was just too tall.

The red brick buildings were so perfectly structured. The crisp white pillars complemented the crisp, clean, preppy look of the students walking around the historic Jeffersonian campus. Everything was in it’s rightful place, and now I will be, too. I’ve been offered admission to the University of Virginia!

The approach was tricky. There was a huge pine tree to the left of the jump, which cast a shadow just in front it. I knew my horse’s eyes weren’t going to adjust fast enough to judge the distance, so I put my leg on, and rode forward.

  • sarah commented on the post, wanted 8 years, 7 months ago

“Wanted Dead or Alive” was playing on the radio. I had the windows rolled down, and I was waiting for a Bob Schneider’s “40 Dogs” song to play. That song was the perfect summer day song. I started to hum it even though Bon Jovi was making my car vibrate. “We’re like good times that […]

The gym was more of a playground, since I didn’t know how to use any of the equipment. None of the other middle-aged “athletes” seemed like they knew either. It’s funny how serious everyone was here, when really, they all looked like too-serious-toddlers on the playground.

    The jungle gym.

  • sarah commented on the post, heels 8 years, 7 months ago

I love heels. Pumps, stilettos, wedges– you name it, I will wear them anytime, any place.

The only problem is, I’m 5’11”. I don’t “need” to wear heels.

I know I don’t need to wear heels, but I want to. So just give me the damn shoes and let me wear them in peace!

  • sarah commented on the post, wander 8 years, 7 months ago

My mind never wanders. In fact, it most always goes to the same place. The path is wide, straight, downhill, and there are deep ruts showing how many times I’ve been here. Here, creating fantasies about what I wish I had done, instead of letting you wander away.

I’m not obsessed with him. I’m really not.

    I promise.

    I promise.

    I promise.

I am obsessed with this promise.

The scarf hid my scar. The one on my neck, from the jaw surgery after the accident. But the wool was itchy and when I took it off, my crimson scar was just surrounded by an angry patch of red. I decided not to wear it.

It was almost a rhyme. Was it an almost-rhyme? A near-rhyme? An I-tried-to-rhyme-but-I-couldn’t-rhyme? The clock ticked. The examiner peered over her glasses. My mind was blank.

I almost passed my English Oral.

He swept me off my feet, but now I’m down here, on the ground, my feet tangled up and my mind tangled around him.

Set a good one. And it better damn well be good, because people are watching. This is what they’re going to go off of. You set the bar, you are the example to those around you. Make of it what you will.
