    As I walked deeper into the forest I noticed a small movement at my feet. I crouched and saw a tiny blue bird carcass teaming with ants. Its sweet soul gone, they now devoured the sour remains.

    Once the police had my statement, I was free to go. But go where? Back home? No thank you. I wasn’t sure if I would ever feel safe in my home again. I wanted to feel safe and I knew being home alone, I would never have that feeling again.
