• Rebecca commented on the post, fried 6 years, 8 months ago

I’m fried. I’m tired. It’s the ninth day of the new semester and I’m already behind, basically in everything. No motivation. My grandfather’s death and then two months of work a week after final exams have left me […]

  • Rebecca commented on the post, asthma 6 years, 8 months ago

I can’t breathe. It’s not like how my sister gasps and wheezes for air when she runs too hard and her asthma swoops in on burning wings and chokes her up. I’m dizzy and can’t find air, but it’s because I’ve […]

  • Rebecca commented on the post, rainy 7 years, 1 month ago

On rainy days, it’s never really sure if I’m going to love or hate the rain. Sometimes it’s just suffocating and gloomy and generally sad and grey and dreary. But other times, it’s like a sort of catharsis to […]

  • Rebecca commented on the post, splash 7 years, 1 month ago

If you see a particular part of the world that you like, alert a member of the cabin crew and one of us will fit you with a parachute and chuck you out. Then you can plummet to the ground and either splash or […]

  • Rebecca commented on the post, catcher 7 years, 1 month ago

The catchers were quick, so she had to be quicker. But how can you outrun something that isn’t even there? The only way is to not be there yourself– to run so fast that you’re essentially never there at all, or […]

  • Rebecca commented on the post, stunning 7 years, 6 months ago

I always thought you were stunning. Not in how you looked, though you are beautiful, but more in how you are able to carry yourself and walk like you know what you’re doing, and how you’re never caught unprepared for anything. You always have a solution. You always know the answer.

  • Rebecca commented on the post, left 7 years, 6 months ago

When time moves on, there’s nothing left but memories and remembered sensation.
All that’s left is 30 seconds.
To my left is a dictionary.
    I’m all that’s left.

  • Rebecca commented on the post, abstract 7 years, 6 months ago

Paintbrush splotches that don’t look like anything. Mismatched sentences. Cut and paste, cover in color, mix, toss, jumble. Doesn’t make any sense. Melting clocks, colored cellophane, autumn leaves when I’m not wearing my glasses.

  • Rebecca commented on the post, icicle 7 years, 6 months ago

I love eating icicles in winter. I know it’s gross and unsanitary and for all I know a squirrels peed on it and it’s now stuck to my tongue, but you know what, it’s fun. It’s one of those things that makes me remember I’m still a kid, no matter what I say to the […]

  • Rebecca commented on the post, beginning 7 years, 6 months ago

Two months ago, I left home for college. I’m on my own for the first time. I’m taking whatever classes I want for the first time. I’m responsible for myself for the first time. I’m learning to be brave for the first time.

  • Rebecca commented on the post, positively 7 years, 6 months ago

“Absolutely positively definitely” is like saying “yes” but with an exclamation point built in. Probably somewhere in the e.

This is one of the silliest things I’ve ever written.

  • Rebecca commented on the post, prints 7 years, 6 months ago

Huge prints lead the way to a dragon’s den. Prints of my paintings sit, covered in dust, in the corner. She prints her geology homework and spends the night looking at rocks in places she hasn’t seen yet.

    Wednesday night.

  • Rebecca commented on the post, patent 7 years, 6 months ago

I think it’s hilarious how many people don’t know what patent means.
But then again, I’m a walking dictionary.

    Someone should patent that.

  • Rebecca commented on the post, patent 7 years, 6 months ago

I remember the guy who makes the pizzas at one of the pizza places in my hometown telling me that if he could, he’d patent his idea for cereal flavored milk. I bet it’d go big. But he’s still making the best pizzas I’ve ever had instead. Win some, lose some.

  • Rebecca commented on the post, autumn 7 years, 6 months ago

Autumn is my favorite season. It’s because everything’s so colorful. It’s got a kind of beautiful irony, because it’s the last stage of leaf-life. It’s like the leaves all got together and said, “Hey, if we’re going to go, let’s show the rest of them the most amazing thing they’ve ever seen before we do.” […]

  • Rebecca commented on the post, alarmist 7 years, 6 months ago

An alarmist blares over the radio waves and makes all the bells and whistles in your head go off. There’s nothing like a good scare in the morning to really make the blood flow and make the heart race. Am I an alarmist? I hope not. I never want to say something to give a […]

  • Rebecca commented on the post, violet 7 years, 10 months ago

Violet has always been my favorite color. Especially the deep, blue violet of sunset. I feel like it’s one million emotions. But as a light wave. 380 to 450 wavelength something-or-others. A wave comes out as all these amazing things. Is that weird?
