It was a small place situated at the two thirds of the hill, very close to the top yet slightly unassuming as to its own position. All in all, one could say it was a shy place. To reach it was to win the heart of the shy girl sitting two rows ahead of you in fifth.

An adorable little fluffy animal was turning its eyes towards me. Little did he know indeed, in all its youthful innocence, the tragic destiny I was doomed to deliver to its short life.

The garb was frayed to the edges, and there was nothing left on its surface left to ascertain its age. Clearly it had been worn, yet it bore the touch of fake ageing.

Well if that is not an old friend… The ancient plague of my every walking day; put to sleep only by the restlessness of my dreams.

Stripped of clothes and of the usual ornaments of my function, no gun -even not a single tiny one hidden anywhere- I felt for the first time as those I had been diligently channelling through those doors all these years.

The day her brother died she sat a long time in the living room; Even the sofa was getting old. Her son was somewhere in Korea -she couldn’t even remember easily whether it was north or west-, her daughter was leaving for Australia, and she was pretty sure her love for her husband had departed a few years ago.
She took her head between her hands.

I told her everything I knew, at once, in a flood of words that poured of a place within me that had been locked for years. She sat patiently, and when I was finished and the flood died down, she said:

Hundreds of people would swarm the intersection and flood the pavement, all at once. There had to be a way out, but the rat couldn’t see it, not from where he stood. Ah, yes. High grounds. He darted for the garbage bin looming in the distance.

A simple pane of glass separated us, a simple wall of hard light as invisible and opaque as that distance which had grew between us over the last months. Two cats were drawn in the lower corner, and for no reason I could fathom the artist had decided they wouldn’t face each other. The smallest one was turning it’s back to the big striped one (or…[Read more]

No point in trying to argue, she would say. No point in trying to convince her, I would think. Unstoppable force meets immovable object, what happens then ? Do we brake right before the impending crash ?

This is something I hadn’t thought about, once again. There is a moment in my life that comes back, like a little mechanical winding toy circling mindlessly.

Well that got me seriously stumped. I’m so used to writing terribly dark messages that the prospect of so much shinyness and enthusiasm leaves me speechless.

The numbers kept coming up on the screen but there was no way I could make sense of them. Piling up one after the other, they merely seemed to advertise an impending doom, the nature of which I could not possibly fathom. Staring at them would not help either, but for a fleeting moment I felt I could just turn my head and there it would be, at the…[Read more]

She was resting there, her arms languidly open in a pose reminiscing me of countless fantasies.
She had been doing so for countless years, her skin withered and dry, her eyes two black holes.

It put to mind of a fresh, minty smell. Something that was going to pass as soon as it started, something I would have much trouble hanging to.
I set the shovel to work and begun digging.
It was going to be a long evening.

This was nothing like the end he had awaited. There were none of the glory promised, none of the ethereal fragments of happiness he had envisioned before the final step.

It was a strange disease, one he couldn’t shake off; for he had been trying many a year to heal. Infliction weird enough that it had left a lot of doctors stumped for words; weird and weirder diagnosis and prognosis had been put forward to no avail.

Well that was another matter entirely. First off, her name wouldn’t do. It just wasn’t… fit for the purpose. Secondly, her attire was, well, to say the least, improper. There wasn’t much I felt I could do, but […]

It was a soup. A plain, uniform, smooth bowl of green-brown liquid, a few wisps of vapor launching their tiny tendrils in the evening air.
