I love to smile. Not only is it good for me, it attracts people – and it means something good has happened. When you smile, the world becomes just a little brighter, and it can make someone’s day just a little better :)

My heart is a wasteland. You have sucked it dry, made it devoid of life. The only feeling I have left is an emptiness in my chest where my soul used to sit, before it flew away with blackbird wings. Wings that fled to higher ground once they knew I was lost, lost, lost forever […]

I wavered for just a moment as I looked down at the paper. This was it – the day of my first AP test; the beginning of the end of my testing career. But I was confident in my knowledge of literary devices, and put my pencil to the paper with gusto.

It is the belief of this nation that all men are created equal. But policy to this date has not reflected this idealistic view. Women, minorities, youth, and those of a different sexuality have been discriminated against and devalued. So if policy can change this sad truth, it better start soon.

I want to be wanted. I want to have someone who will do anything for me, who’ll stand out in the rain by my door for half an hour, waiting for me to come out after a fight. Silly? Yes. But everyone has a right to dream.

Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she saw Eric enter the gym. He’d changed significantly in the five years that they’d been apart – a bit fitter, with newer clothes and a fuller head of hair – but the self-confident gleam in his eyes was still there, lingering under his nonchalant facade.

    A figure in white
Softly drifts down the front hall
    A ghost, veil’d in tears

He stood at the desk, arms shaking. The pictures on the wall seemed to be staring at him, their eyes full of condemnation, as if they knew in advance what he was going to write. He knew full well the potential dangers of his statement and the damning potential it contained. Then, with trepidation, he […]

    Buzzz…buzzz…buzzz….buzzz…buzzzz….buzzz….buzzzbuzzz…..
I have nothing productive to write about bees. I don’t mind them – I’m not allergic to them, or scared – I simply have no opinion on the matter.

  • emma31893 commented on the post, final 8 years, 10 months ago

Finals. Oh, god, finals. They’re sooo soon. I mean, I have my AP Mocks in a month, which are pretty much the finals for my classes, and then the APs in May, and that’s it. Done. Finished. My life in high school can be measured in months, if not weeks, by now. It’ll end soon, […]

  • emma31893 commented on the post, specific 8 years, 10 months ago

Why specific? Who defines what is specific and what it almost-sort-of-general-needs-a-few-more-details? If I was to talk about the mahogany desk in the corner, would that be specific enough? Or would you want the oval, slightly scratched mahogany desk with uneven legs and a slight musky smell in the corner closest to the window?

  • emma31893 commented on the post, cheap 8 years, 10 months ago

‘Cheap’ is the thing – the knickknack, the yard sale item – that you see when browsing around a thrift store with your friends. You all laugh at it, but you secretly sneak back later to buy it, because it’s just so unusual that you can’t fathom passing it up.
