The symphony begins with a light pounding on the tympani. Faster and faster the beats grow louder. The music can be heard all throughout the room– the music of Thunder and Its mighty hooves.

I don’t really like slavery. Who does? Some people, obviously, or there wouldn’t be any of it left. Unfortunately there is only too much of it in the world. What gives a person the idea that they have the right to force someone else to obey them without question? Politics, I suppose…

The little girl stepped into the first room. The smell embraced her like a warm blanket. All of the figures surrounding her were so quaint and delicate– little people dancing and playing house. She never wanted to leave.

  • Emily commented on the post, president 7 years, 11 months ago

The President doesn’t really have much power when you think about it. I mean, he has Veto and social-standing. But the legislative branch makes the laws and the judicial branch enforces them. He’s not unlike the Queen. o.O

They flew through the fields, manes wooshing in their trails. The sound of their hooves could be heard through the forests and mountains. Each call a beauty unto its own.

  • Emily commented on the post, flare 8 years ago

The man had flare, I’ll give him that. Even though his schemes were so sadistically barbarian- he was very clever in their execution.

Well waiting for his return, she looked around the room. There were wall-to-wall shelves. It might’ve been beautiful except for all of the dust. Upon closer inspection she saw what it all hid– row after row of preserved hearts. “See anything you like?” She turned with a start at his voice and noticed his lascivious […]

The moon lies down in a sea of sleep.
She curls into a fetus bracing herself for
the onslaught of the coming sun.
    He doesn’t like the night.

  • Emily commented on the post, positively 8 years ago

“I do declare!” Mrs. Jenson flew into the room, distraught.
“Positively inspiring, really,” Ms. Boudelaire looked to the arrival of her sister in-law, “is it not?”

The room practically overflowed with his floral prints. They were the drapes, the walls, and even the ceiling! By the time he invited me to sit, my eyes were exhausted.

  • Emily commented on the post, patent 8 years ago

A patent is one of thooose things, right? Like a copyright. I’m pretty sure. I suppose if it is, then they must be pretty necessary if you want to be published. Can’t have people stealing others’ work now, can we?

The air smelled of vomit. The combination of bad booze, rotting flowers, and old cigarettes mingled into a nauseating headache.

I need to find something else to fill the void left behind.
    That’s all, really.
Not that I was ever married anyway.
    That’d be odd.

  • Emily commented on the post, awakening 8 years ago

Loud music fills the dark space around me and I open my eyes. I close them to slits and shuffle under the covers, trying to adjust to the slap of cold on my face. I decide to remove them like a band-aid, fast and harsh. The air pierces me.

  • Emily commented on the post, mutual 8 years, 1 month ago

In a relationship…I believe that in order for it to work there has to be at least 5/10 mutual interests. If there aren’t any, then what are you going to do together? If there are only a few, then what will you do when they start to get boring?

  • Emily commented on the post, warfare 8 years, 1 month ago

I hate war. I’m kind of a pacifist. But then saying I’m a pacifist is a contradiction to other things that I am. Especially considering I’m a firm believer in the whole “eye for an eye” thing. I just really hate war, though. Religion and oil…who needs ’em, eh?

“Guilty.” The judge pounded his gavel. “I sentence you to 15 years in federal prison for the criminally insane.”

She just sat there and smiled.

  • Emily commented on the post, stacks 8 years, 1 month ago

The old, dusty stacks of the library muffled the screams. The only beings who could hear were those trapped within the pages of ancient stories. Or, you know, a stack of papers…or walruses. However considering walruses tend to be rounded on the top, I don’t know if that would go over very well.

  • Emily commented on the post, setting 8 years, 1 month ago

Oh…I already wrote about this. Perhaps I’ll write something else? Meh. Setting is pretty. It is also scary and weird and awesome and cold and hot and…it’s just everything, okay? You either get it or you don’t. Sheesh.
