the tables were set for a feast, yet none would come. The candle wax flowed precariously down the sides, making puddles surrounding the silver base. Alone she sat, with no one but her sadness and grief, and watched the flickering flames.

Upstairs at Eric’s-What a great album. That was my junior year of high school, where I spent weekends gyrating to the techno pumping sounds of “Don’t Go” on the darkened dance floor, intermittently splashed with flashes of colored light from the cheap lighting set in the corner next to the DJ.

The loft was my secret hide-out, my escape from everyone, my solitude. It was there I could be with myself and not worry about the others.

Oh how I wish we had saved some of that nearly (gulp) million dollars my husband made over the couple of years time back in golden days of computer software sales in the late nineties.

There are times during my day when I think my daughter’s sole mission in life is to remind me why I stopped at three kids.I knew if I had any more children I would arrested for being a neglectful parent, since all of my energy and attention gets funneled to her.

I was a nun once. A pregnant nun for Halloween sounded like a good idea when I was 16. I can’t believe my manager at McDonald’s let me wear that costume during my shift that night. Which just does to show I guess I should cut my own kids some slack when I accuse them […]

The room was decorated in light pink hues with accents of pale yellow and soft meadow green. Seriously? Perfect for a newborn, but she was 15. The tears began to force their way out of her eyes, and then she began to sob.

I silently shut the alarm clock off, put my feet on the floor and made my way to the bathroom. Another day had begun.

I don’t think I realized how good I had it back then. Back in the day of just being a stay-at-home mom with a husband who brought home biweekly checks of $5000. Now I’d be glad to see that in a few months’ salary. Boy, did I have it made and I didn’t even know […]

She finally let the question form in her mind. How had her life come to this? For months she denied it, but no longer could she silence the voice in her head that sounded not unlike her mother’s. How had she stooped so low as to be a maid for her lawyer?

It had been a long weekend, and he couldn’t remember a time when he had been so strung out on a Monday morning. He looked at the clock, and with a grunt of disgust, put the pillow over his head and drifted off into his fantasy land world again.
