“they’re savages, savages- barely even human. Savages! Savages! Do they even bleed?”
Pocahontas was her favorite Disney movie.

the sequins on her dress had a peculiar pattern that seemed to glimmer unnaturally under the glow of the streetlights. she walked with her shoulders back and her head held high. she attracted attention from people the general populous tended to avoid. She didn’t seem to mind.

College acceptances are like the dreadful process of shopping with a very picky person in a thrift store. Some items will be of higher quality, like cashmere scarves or designer jeans, but they’re of a boring color or not what the capricious shopper is looking for. No, the shopper wants to purchase the cheap scarf […]

He set the bar for all of the other dancers in the world: he was innovative, he was fearless, he broke the rules time and time again. He was the perfect example of a kid who was going to take his passion and actually go somewhere in life. He was the epitome of ‘follow your […]

His life was spinning out of control. He thought he had everything figured out, thought he had everything planned well…. apparently not.

The crowd was in awe–the band had just just played their final song and had left the stage, throwing out their half-filled water bottles, drumsticks, and guitar picks into the audience on their way out. The set was amazing, enough to drive any fan wild. The music continued to pulse through all their veins and […]

  • Daina commented on the post, specific 8 years, 2 months ago

She was looking for something specific. She walked down the aisles, scoured the entire store, walked the city, going from store to store… all for what? No one knew. Each and every Saturday she left her home and bothered the urban setting with her eccentricity and randomness. No one knew what she was looking for. […]

She was the kind of girl who was the most comfortable at home, alone, sitting on the couch wearing a basic white tee and sweatpants, reading a favorite novel. She could listen to music all night or watch re-runs of sitcoms until the morning sun came up. And whenever someone would call her and interrupt […]

Everything about her screamed ‘cheap’ from the golden hoops in her ears to the smeared make up and the platform heels. She sat down at the counter and asked for nothing but a coffee, probably because that was all that she could afford. She probably just finished working the corner and needed a boost before […]

She was a traveler, filled with wanderlust. From Austria, to Greece, through Spain, ending up in Chile, she loved cultures that weren’t her own. From each country she bought a golden keychain, reminding her of her adventures. And they dangled on a long keychain she kept inside her backpack, safe from the outside terrain she […]

Finally, she was able to stand tall and face her fears. After all of these years, she felt strong. Her smeared make-up and her wrinkled clothes were reminiscent of the girl she used to be. Now, however, she walked out the door with her head held high and a smile on her face. She almost […]

She stood up, drunk, and started dancing on the tables. The guys around her merrily clashed their beer mugs together, singing their songs. I watched from afar and noticed the unhappiness in her eyes, the hesitation in her movements, the sorrow etched upon her face. This girl wasn’t dancing for the hell of it, she […]

I walked into the barber shop, ready to let go. This hair held loosely in a ponytail holder at the nape of my neck was the cumulation of a year’s worth of growth and development that I was ready to let go of. I sat down in the chair and told him to chop it […]

we were no longer the happy couple that everyone thought we were. he forever lived in his darkroom, hovering over the photographs he took, while i sat in the kitchen flipping through magazines, looking at pictures of other people leading their lives. because that’s what they did, they led their lives.
