She was thoroughly modern. Her canvas was a chrome photo, her professional glint of the teeth and the eyes. She wore suits, she had a briefcase, and my friends, it doesn’t get more modern than that. She […]

Do you want my advice, dear? Run away. Run away from everything and everyone until you can find something that makes you happy and doesn’t leave that sore lump in your throat. Leave your family, your house, your life, because your time is running out and dammit, so should you be.

Heart like iron, weighing me down, quintuple my body weight. Miss Atlas, Miss Atlas, how can you hold it on your shoulders? Miss Atlas, Miss Atlas, can I pretty please have your autograph on the list of people I’ve hurt? Miss Atlas? Please?

  • Raiya Moon commented on the post, birth 8 years, 3 months ago

My birth came when I was more or less ten years old. I would say rebirth, but I really am not the same person, so I was not reborn, but born. Born to a girl with too much sarcasm and too much negativity who ruined my life and made me grow up. She killed my […]

  • Raiya Moon commented on the post, route 8 years, 7 months ago

The standard route was stupid. It would be clogged with people, their eyes tired. Like Route 66. The best way would be the alternate route, the road less travelled by, if you will. Take the alternate route. Go out there, get off the computer, and make a difference in the world (says the shameless hypocrite).

  • Raiya Moon commented on the post, stick 8 years, 8 months ago

She barely glanced at the stick as she swung it between her fingers. ‘So.’

    ‘So.’

    ‘How’ve you been?’

Round and round. The stick spun and spun, speeding and speeding, until it was just a blur.

    ‘Good. You?’

  • Raiya Moon commented on the post, spike 8 years, 8 months ago

The spikes on his neck alarmed her slightly. He looked pretty hardcore, like he played in a metal band or something. The choker, adorned with those horrific spikes, circled his neck like a noose. His face was pale, his eyes were dead. He wore a leather jacket with ripped sleeves. And then I heard his […]

She looked so serene, floating there in the stream. Lilies adorned her hair. Her face was set in a happy, lazy smile. But she was dead. She was Ophelia.

  • Raiya Moon commented on the post, chatter 8 years, 10 months ago

The incessant chatter was distracting. My true purpose… I flexed my fingers, dismayed. My true purpose was lost in the babbling of these mere fools!

  • Raiya Moon commented on the post, divide 8 years, 11 months ago

There was a great divide between those who were ordinary and those who were not.
Those who were not still are.
Those who were ordinary are not.

  • Raiya Moon commented on the post, stroller 8 years, 11 months ago

He was a stroller. A strider. Each step was twice the length of hers, and she struggled to keep up. He had long legs. Or maybe it was just his anger fuelling him?

  • Raiya Moon commented on the post, calling 8 years, 11 months ago

This was my calling. I don’t know what they thought I was doing, why they were pulling so hard; dragging me away from what I loved. But it was all I could do. How could they not see that?

  • Raiya Moon commented on the post, raise 8 years, 11 months ago

She raised the problem, after an hour of careful war tactics. ‘What about the innocents?’
They glanced her way, just long enough to mumble something about the greater good, and returned to their schemes.

  • Raiya Moon commented on the post, discuss 8 years, 11 months ago

    ‘Discuss.’
The teacher’s word was barked and short. I saw this as a wonderful opportunity to whip out my book. The girl sitting next to me was rather put out at my apparent unwillingness to talk to her.

  • Raiya Moon commented on the post, trees 8 years, 11 months ago

The trees surrounded him as he cradled the broken necklace in his arms. They couldn’t have broken it. They couldn’t have. They couldn’t have left it here, not here, this very place where the trees were malicious and threatened even the birds.

  • The mountain was indistinct, hazy from the swirling snow, the fog, and the clouds. I huddled closer to the window; my reasoning was flawed, but somehow I felt warmer when watching the towering giant in the distance.

  • Raiya Moon commented on the post, escape 9 years ago

I could escape. I knew it. I could see the opening, see where they had failed to cover. They closed in, their leering faces anticipating the fun they were about to have. Or weren’t about to have.

    I sprinted–but I was wrong. I couldn’t escape. They caught me.

  • Raiya Moon commented on the post, cross 9 years ago

She was cross. I don’t know why. She didn’t even know I was aware. But I knew her too well; the slight crease in the forehead, the lowering of the eyebrows, the fixed smile. When she was happy, she almost never smiled.

  • Raiya Moon commented on the post, fences 9 years ago

I was surrounded by fences. Suppressing a sigh, I kicked one over.
    Another sprouted.
    And another.
    And another.
My heart crashed and burned. I was stuck. Well and truly… trapped.

  • Raiya Moon commented on the post, none 9 years ago

She had all of the virtues I dislike, and none of the vices I admire.
There, a little Winston for you.
But it was true; she really was the most remarkable woman.
She could make you feel like you were a little worm, about to be chopped in half.
