When the sun takes all it can, with skin radiating warmth, and nature singing it’s lullaby – there’s only one place to be. Amongst pillowy flora where the insects will guard my dreams.
I curl up, eyes drooping, made myself a nest of pillows, hear the red-winged blackbird calling from my porch, the water goes in and out, in and out, my head sinks deeper
He wanted to take a nap, just for a little while. So he could put down his burden and relax. He wanted to have some good dreams, of the life before all of this. But he felt he had just closed his eyes when his grandson was pulling on his arm. “Grandpa, come on. We have to go.” He picked up his grandson, his burden, and felt sad that every time he carried him, the boy felt lighter.
