She was trying not to sweat but a song playing about the risks involved in what she was doing was making her shake even more. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Stan give the signal. Jae pulled the ski mask down over her face, pulled out her gun and moved toward the counter.

  15. The shoe peddler faced criminal charges, all in the first degree: Assault, theft, and even murder. Even so, he stared blankly at the members of the jury as he took the stand in the courtroom. His fingers twitched while his hand was on the worn down Bible proffered to him. And when he was ready to speak, it almost didn’t sound human.

    “I,” he enunciated. “Sell. Shoes.”

  16. Crime isn’t always bad. Sometimes laws are bad. If you remove the negative associations, could criminal be synonymous to hero? Or trailblazer? Or risk-taker? Or leader? I could think of a few examples. Mr. King, anyone?

  17. He’s always wanted to catch a criminal. it was one of the most goals he’d had h-the biggest goals he’d ever had in his entire life. Even thogugh everyone else would sometimes say, “what about becoming something else like a firefighter or something -don’t you want to become a policeman instead?” -like you always wanted to be instead?” -“What happened to you wanting to be a policeman?” He would say, no. Well, not really, because even after he USED to say he wanted to be a policeman, sometimes, the part of him that still wanted to be a policeman made him say, “Yes, but I’d also like to be -but I want to be a detective policeman.” And that’s when he got the idea.
