  1. I pulled the hood of my favourite jumper of my favourite hoodie over my head and then opened the door, walking out into the pouring rain. The contrast between the gentle warmth of the house, and the freezing, wet winter air of outside was immediately noticeable, the goosebumps on my airs raising in anticipation for the icy cold that hung, suspended, in the late autumn weather.

  2. Then, I saw her. The rich cloak came up around her face and formed a hood through which bright gleaming black eyes shone in the shadows of her face. Her skin was viciously pale as if no ray sun had ever marred it. This was a woman of royalty, royalty of the mysterious kingdom to the north.

  3. The hood in my jacket holds me in. Holds the rain drops. Holds the memories. Holds the friends. I take offense when I hear the word hoodlum because it makes a hood sound bad. It isn’t. It brings me together with what is around me. Peacefully and without anything in return.

  4. hood. trayvon martin wore a hood. but i don’t really understand why that’s the center of this whole thing. everyone wears hoods. black, white, latino. i wore a hood yesterday, i didn’t get shot. i just don’t get why the hood is the big deal. what about the fact that a seventeen year old boy was shot.

  5. And then there they were, great hooded eyes staring back at me out of the darkness. They were not eyes that I could recognize on a human–it was as if their color was indecisive, swirling from pale yellow to angry spotted reddish blue and then to darkness, almost matching those strange, slitted pupils. My raised flashlight reflected off them like they were a pair of mirrors, instead casting shadows that churned and stretched, tentacle-like, from the source of the eyes and to my feet. The eyes were the distraction, luring me in like a minnow to an anglerfish’s mesmerizing light.

I, of course, realized this too late.

  6. I wonder what Hood Canal looks like today.
The sun is sort of shining, the breeze is dull –

It was not the quick and harsh breath of one who was afraid, but the smooth and steady breath of one who knew what was to come and was prepared.

They came, finally, their hard, quick steps resounding in the hallway long before the door opened. One of them came to him and the hood was placed over his head before they lead him from the room, his hands tied behind his back.

  30. A hooded creature stepped from the shadows and lowered its hood, revealing a metallic face with all sorts of holes, metal plates, and screws exposed. It really was quite a horrid sight, it drove people away screaming that the devil was on earth. The man underneath all of the surgery, metal, and, burns was named Alexander King. In popular movies and books the evil character steps out of the shadows, Alexander just didn’t want to scare anyone, he wanted people to accept him for what he was.

  38. Organic chemicals, compounds, what are we but a few bonds and atoms. But feeling, matter, these things matter but matter is not part of this equation. Where does it come from? You tell me, because science can’t explain everything, not love, not happiness, emotions or vibes. No, it’s not just a concoction of hormones or chemical signals, because that still doesn’t tell me. Where. Does. It. Come. From.

It’s only the beginning of understanding.
