  1. His commission would be running out any day now. Give it two weeks and he’d be back on the streets of Chicago. Good Lord, where would he go? He hadn’t talked to Kristie in seven weeks, ever since his brother had walked in on her cooking dinner for another man. Where would he go? What could he do?

  2. His commission to redesign the building was rejected almost immediately, much to his chagrin. In all honesty, it made me laugh. I guess he wasn’t the boss he always thought he’d been.

  3. Commission is a strange word. Built into it is the word mission, which goes halfway towards describing the kind of zeal you need if you want to get really good commissions in certain things like, say, sales.

  13. “The van is $30 a day. You owe us 50 cents a mile, and are responsible for your own gas. You also need to buy the product from us, too–that comes to a good $40 a box, and you’ll want to be stocked. But at the end of the day, after you’re done driving through trailer parks and shuttered neighborhoods, you get commission… it’s a pretty great deal, really.”
