  1. ’tis a spectrum of happiness, of choosing to explore, of allowing the mind to reach beyond the horizon and see the world, see the wonders. to broaden the mind is to feel alive, is to see the richness of the world, the contrasts, the colours, the horrors, the beauty. it is to live, to see why it is worth living, and to love. to fall in love, over and over, with places, with people …

  2. We are always told to broaden our horizons. Cliche maybe, but it’s something new, exciting. I like to think of it as a stretching out, where everything expands suddenly, like the rays of the sun slipping out over all that I can see.

  3. In order for us to broaden our minds we must first broaden our lives. Live in a way that is shapeless. never be stuck to a pattern. Expand your interests and broaden your mind. This is the key to success. Thank you.

  4. One must constantly broaden their horizon. The future holds many opportunities but they must be found. Travelling to different places, learning new languages is just one of the few things that allows the human species to flourish, however this can only be done when you want to discover new areas of interest.

  5. The mind is constantly broadened by new experiences and horizons. One might decide to move to a new country and proceed to a new state of mind. This widens the situations that they might explore and this increases their knowledge and understanding of the world. this is crucial in determining who and what you shall do and what shall continue to occupy the mind.

  6. Before I take another step forward, I really need to take a step back. I need to broaden my perspective. I need to broaden who I am and flesh out every detail of my being. I cannot move forward if I cannot take larger steps forward.

I will be fine, I just have to take in the bigger picture.

  7. “I’m not giving up! I think we should broaden the range of the search!” I slapped my hand across the map, covering the valleys on both sides of the ridge. “He’s not an experienced climber, so he might not be going in the right direction, but he is strong, and fast, so he could have covered a lot more ground than this!”

  8. Broaden. Is it a sense of enlarging ones ideas on the world? Or is it just to make something wider. When I hear the word ‘broaden’ I think of broadening my horizons. Go the distance. All that inspirational bullshit. But maybe I’ll make it to my horizon one day.

  9. To make larger. to increase in size to expand above reach. like ost empires wanted. oh how sad that they fail to conquer the world. but that si for the world to decide.

  10. Loosen up the spaces,
and I’ll fill in all the blanks.
    Had to rip the stitches,
remove the badges, pull your ranks.

    I’d never really been forgotten,
but what I fear the most:
    is having a mind never-broadened,
and living my life as a ghost.

  11. He really needed to broaden his horizons. As he stared down at the excel sheet, the cursor blinking at him with either mocking or fake enthusiasm, (he couldn’t decide which), he typed the first number of the payroll form in the cell.

  12. A place where shores crash into walls
    Of mountain that rise tall
    To the occasion.
    It’s all an event.
    Isn’t it?
We are told to broaden our horizons,
Yet we can not be grateful with the horizons we have.
Why broaden when we can be content.
    To expand with greed,
    To take advantage.
All of which to be labeled as an act of humanity
    And self confirmation
To the fact that we can never be
    Satisfied with what we have.
Because we will always be tempted to broaden.

  13. In the occasion that one would desire to broaden their budget, one would need to make new clothes. Larger pockets must be inserted into all items of clothing so as to contain the wealth that is being stored up.

  14. Broadening your horizons is an essential practice for life. It helps us better empathize with the people around us and create a world view. Without such view, people are usually racists, bigots, etc. and can’t sympathize with anyone that isn’t exactly them.

  15. Life is all about broadening your horizons. I’m not really I’m sure what that means, I guess becoming more cosmopolitan. But that seems to be a fallacy at times, because you can never get the full picture.

  16. Broaden your horizons. Expand your view. I’ve been told I’m narrow-minded, but I’ve finally realized that what they mean by ‘narrow-minded’ is confident in belief. I am confident. Being open-minded isn’t the same as being wishy-washy and having no conviction. It’s about being willing to see other people’s views, not adopting them.

  17. “They said it would ‘broaden my horizons’,” she mocked, complete with air-quotes, “Far as I can see, the only thing it’s done is fuck with how much netflix I can watch,”
Her roommate laughed, hiding parted lips behind an upraised hand. “You poor soul; clearly your suffering is greater than I realized,”
Anna smirked over at the blonde, dimples flaring to life, “You know it,”

  18. Broadening your opinions on life is really hard and a difficult task to do. You have to step out of your comfort zone, hurt some people, and possibly be hurt yourself, both in the physical and mental stages that is called life. People are going to come into your life, who you are going to care greatly for, and they will wreck it, leaving you alone and helpless because you thought for the slightest amount of time, that they cared a little bit about you, too. People are going to leave you, not because you did anything, or not because they want to, but because in life, people come and people go. Nothing is ever permanent and nothing will ever be permanent, which is the sad thing about it. Change is inevitable and the fear of losing or getting hurt will not only deter you from being you, it will deter you from just being known. From being seen and heard, and from having anyone recognize you for who you are, so broaden your horizon.

  19. “You need to broaden your horizons,” she said, sitting next to me on the flat roof.

I crinkled my nose and turned my face away from the smoke getting blown my way. “You need to broaden your scientific horizons,” I said. “I’m not smoking.”

    “What?”

“Cancer, girl. Just because our life sucks doesn’t mean death is any better.”

She scoffed. “It’s not about -”

    “Yes, it is.” I said. “You’re self-destructive.”

  20. the horizon sank back
    in humble respect
    for the soaring figure
whose plumes only seemed to broaden
    as the sun got smaller

Let the sun peek over the mountains
    Cast pale light
    Peach, azure, scarlet
    Brighten your world

“I don’t want to expand,” Sierra sighed. “I’m doing so much already – singing, acting, and dancing. And then I’m piling schoolwork right on top of that.”

  27. She hates wearing shoes, prefers to feel the earth between her toes, smell the air, and know that she is home. The forest is the one place where she can relax, kneel down and pick up loamy earth in fingers as delicate as twigs. She belongs to the forest, and it is here that the world broaden’s out around here. This is where she needs to be. This is where she can breathe.

  28. the view in front of them seemed to lighten up. everyone about it was breathe taking but to them it was only just becoming clear. the sun was coming up, lighting up the entire landscape. the trees shook awake from their slumber. the lake seemed to moved, as the animals underneath stirred awake. the earth was breathing with them.

  29. They sit on the edge of the hotel balcony, legs dangling over the wall, and watch the people crush together by the river. The lights flicker off the water, and you can practically smell the excitement and devotion of the people down there. She rests her head on Martha’s shoulder, and twines their fingers together, and feels that the world has never been more open to her than it is tonight.

  30. The way was thin
    but easy
    narrow
    and uncomplicated
    when it began to broaden
    become curving and attractive
    confusing
    that was when it happened

  32. Broaden your horizons. Take everything you see and push it. Push your limits. Push your mind. Push your heart. The things you may find in such a vast expanse… just may change your life.

  33. She wore horn-rimmed glasses and a sloppy ponytail that suggested clairvoyant insight. My guidance counselor spoke with an ethereal, spacey wisdom and hands splayed in broad gestures. Any words she spoke about the emotional truth of my current situation was muted by my total concentration on counting the beads on her necklace.

  34. Now is the time to broaden your horizons, no matter you age, location, or gender. You should always seek to learn, grow and discover something every single day. You can never know enough.

  35. Horizons spilling
    like midmorning tea
    all down her spine and lungs;
    she rose faster than
    the doubts in a mother.

    She finally could,
and that drug upon her tongue
drove her more crazy than any
    of the ones before.

    She fell like a thunderbolt.

  36. well duh it’s the horizons. look at any of the other entries around here. lately i feel pain as my horizons broaden. i’m a virgin to this extreme value fulfillment. go to sleep, wake up and try again. go to sleep again.

  37. Broaden your mind fool.
Take the time to broaden your mind and see the other sides of things that you may not have looked into before.
I don’t care about spelling. I scare myself when I spell too much, or too little, just the right amount is all I need to be myself. And that’s all I need to broaden myself. To be myself is to broaden, to expand, to let go of what conditions I have and to escape into a reality beyond the known, a reality of broadened wings and sky-high loving.

  38. When they told me to broaden my horizons, I sewed sails onto a boat and sailed for the eighth sea, one that the same “they” claimed did not exist. It didn’t matter. They were the type of people who liked to chastise and not practice what they bragged about being good at. As for me, I breathed salt and tasted fresh air for several months, until the tides pulled me back onto shore and I carved my name into the earth of a brand new world.
