  1. You can lease an apartment or a building for other to use for what they’d like. Personally, I’d lease one for like 2 days so I could have a party in a random space without getting in trouble for partying at me house. I’m not really a partier anyway.

  7. I saw a lease once, it was about the size of a 11×7 paper… you had to sign them, or something and then keys were handed to you. Its funny, you are not sure what you are to do with the keys, but the lady behind the counter asked me for money, I paid her, I then asked why? She told me it was for a deposit.

  10. I drove past, slower than an old man on a giant snail, wondering how it looked so much bigger than when I was a kid – surely things get smaller when you get older? They’d painted the front door black, neatened the wild heather bushes that took over the front garden each summer, replaced the moaning half-hung side gate with a regimentedly straight slatted door, fixed top and bottom with sliding bolts. It was not my house any more. The lease was for three years, but even in thirty I doubt I’d have enough money to buy the place back.

  13. a lease can be quite tough because sometimes it expires and you need to find a new flat. a bit annoying, but nothing in life is impossible so I’m sure you would be able to overcome that. time is ticking and I am now done.

  15. The lease on the house had been up, and we had to move out. It was heartbreaking – so very heartbreaking. I grew up in this house- and as one of my favorite songs put it, it was the House that built me.

  17. I wish that leases weren’t year-round, especially in a college town. I don’t want to live on campus anymore, but I also don’t want to be stuck in the Piedmont all summer long. It’s hot. Wayyy too hot. I love the mountains.

  19. Lease sounds like a dirty word. Thoughts of nasty landlords come to mind. Strict rules that are impossible to follow. Lost money as you pay for nothing you will ever keep. Nothing to show for it. Impermanence.

  22. it’s like a house, like getting your first apartment and you’re too naive to be terrified, and then the second time one of your roommates isn’t sure, and doesn’t bring the deposit, so you pay it and she never pays you back, and you’re terrified that it won’t work and you’ll hate each other and she’ll never pay the rent on time, but then you end up both loving Firefly and suddenly everything is okay again.

  23. My lease is ending. And with it, ends a portion of my life. The portion that was lived in this home, in this apartment, surrounded by these particular people. And it’s exciting because so much new is coming my way. Letting go of the old.

  28. There’s normal cars and there’s leased cars. Just like there’s normal life, and life conformed to all the rules and settings that are out there. Leasing is cheap. Way cheaper. But it’s difficult to keep it going for long times. In the end you might be off just cheaper when buying a car.

  32. To them it’s a business deal, a lease: she rents out her heart to them for whatever use they fancy. And while she let’s herself be taken advantage of she’s desperately hoping that one day they’ll stop looking at each other in that sappy, mushy way and realize that she loves them both very much, only wanting to be able to share what they have.

  34. I really liked that house, you know. I cried a whole lot on my last day there, remembering the time when I first struggled to keep that house, then recalling the time when I almost lost it. It was mine, just wholly mine. My little universe with crooked doorknobs and creaky floors.

  37. If you lease a car you can’t make it look pretty or get a new stereo. You can’t get leather seats or a novelty horn. And you absolutely can NOT paint it pink with zebra stripes. Guess i’m not getting that security deposit back…

  38. I think leasing is something that no one REALLY understands. I mean, a lot of my family are are lawyers…and i don’t think even they understand it. It’s like renting something that you actually want to keep. cheaper, but i’d get jealous if i saw someone else renting my car….

  40. Lease a rent? Do you really want to get that place? Lease part of please. Please, let me go. Let me be. That’s why you’re getting the lease in the first place, you want to be alone. Get your own place. But it’s not as easy as you thought it’d be. No… ease? All part of the same word suspiciously enough…
