  1. that purple blob, almost transparent, stood still in the middle of the plate, whole and untouched. then along came the knife (not too sharp but still a blade), touched on its surface and forced pressure down… the jelly was sliced into two.

  2. Home. Picking berries with my dad. Elderberry. Blueberry. Blackberry. Raspberry. Cheesecloth. Pressure cookers. Toast. Mornings. Fall.

  3. Jelly is disgusting. I really, really, really hate jelly. It doesn’t matter what flavor, it grosses me the hell out and leaves me gagging. I can’t handle the scent, sight, or texture. Seriously; it’s disgusting!

  4. It was jelly. Just jelly. She handed me the jar across the table and smiled at me expectantly. I thought she was going to pop she was so excited for me to try it. I mean I love strawberry jam, but a mango jelly wasn’t really my thing. She’d made it from scratch, so I had to. When I took that bite I knew we would never quite get along.

  5. the jelly poured over her head. She looked back, eyeing the girl standing behind her. Her enemy’s eyes crawled across the floor, digging their heels into her legs. she screamed in terror as the eyes bit into her and dug into her stomach. they tore at her heart and mind and created an opening that couldn’t be shut.

  6. This makes me think of Olivia and her sandwiches. She always makes me giggle because no matter what she ends up with a jelly mustache. It is too darn cute. It makes me wish I was as carefree as her.

  7. Jelly – not a personal favorite, really.
I don’t like grape jelly. I think my taste buds have matured into…not liking jelly?
Don’t get me wrong, strawberry jelly is fantastic.
But, alas, jelly is not that good on wheat bread.
    I prefer butter.

  8. hello
what am I supposed to be doing here?
    I am not quite sure.
    well neither am I.
so what are we going to do about this?
    I think we should vote.
But we are so few. the vote wouldn’t much matter here.
    I guess your right.
But what are we supposed to be doing here?
    Someone tell me!

  11. jelly is a nickname for my baby sister. before she was born (actually, as near as the day before) my parents were considering actually signing her birth certificate with the name jelly bean on it! well, the name stuck, earning her catch phrases such as, ‘i dont think youre ready for this jelly’ to quote beyonce. even into school, we still call her that. even some of her close friends do, as well!

  12. Jelly is the name my brother always called me. The one that came from that awful inch of fat that sprouted along my waist the year I turned 14. I’ll never forget that nickname, especially not today when it matters the most – when men won’t even glance at me because of my “jelly”. It will always stay with me.

    by Taylor on 06.06.2012
  13. She always wondered what it would be like to step on a lump of jelly. Like mud maybe?
There was never any opportunity to answer the question. I mean, who buys a can of jelly and pours it into a large bowl just so they can step in it.
Then she met a friend in college who dumped and entire canister of peanut butter in between to slices of bread to find out how thick the sandwich would be. He bought her a jar of jelly and asked her on a date.

  14. the toast is warm in my hand, and the night is humid, but the sweetness on top is cool and silky against my tongue. i hold a cup of tea and when i kiss him goodbye, i taste the preserved grapes on his tongue

  16. Delicious. This incredible condiment tastes wonderful with peanut butter and toast. I love jelly. It’s red, purple, blue… whatever. But perfect all the same. It’s sweet, can be tart. and goes with just about everything. It is the best thing about my mornings. The fruity sweetness just adds a highlight of joy to my day when I start off every morning.

  17. Jelly is sweet. A lot of people say it goes nicely with peanut butter. This may be because of the opposite tastes or textures, but regardless of the reason, I never really have loved it. Which is strange, because I enjoy both jelly and peanut butter. Weird how the brain works. Right??

  18. Jelly is the thing that reminds me of my childhood. When i was giving my mom a hard time and i couldn’t eat anything because i was so stubborn, i would eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Jelly reminds me of when i was young and naive.

  19. jelly belly. I remember being little and wanting desperately to make new combinations of flavors with them. I never really liked the popcorn flavored ones. Tutti frutti was my favorite, and my grandpas too, I think. i wish I could home make some jelly. it would be nice, I used to at dance camp when I was little, strawberry jelly, with SO much sugar. it was nice.

  21. She remembered. Granny’s awkward moth ball smelling house, mashing grapes between her fingers until she thought the stickiness would never leave. The taste of their masterpiece on home-made buttery biscuits.Gravy, orange juice, fresh milk and cream from Betsy. Childhood. She longed for her long lost childhood…. Longing. Loosing. Her memory. She remembered.

  22. You sit and wait, keep your eyes open, letting them burn, wanting them to burn until you see the lightning jerk across the edges of clouds.

When you blink, it has already gone by.

  23. I really like peanut butter and jelly. My favorite kind of Jelly is blackberry, although I think that that’s just jam. What is the difference between jelly and jam? is it just that one has seeds and one doesn’t? or is one a different texture than the other? Most jelly’s seem like they’re a purple color, although there is strawberry that’s not purple.

  31. As she walked up the steps she didn’t know what was going to be behind the door. She couldn’t feel her fingers from the cold and her legs felt like jelly. She thought she was going to be sick, her stomach was so tense. After several moments, she reached out for the handle and tightened her grip.

  32. There are so many words to write about really. So many. They fit them in a darn 10 million volume book called the dictionary. Then there are different languages with all new words with all new meanings. Gosh, there are just so many words.

Even the word jelly, believe it or not. What a funny substance it is.

    by Mary on 06.06.2012
  33. Purple and tasty, it goes great with peanut butter. It usually comes from grapes, but it can be made from various types of fruit.
Also used as a term for a girl with definitive body curves. Made famous Beyonce singing the lyrics, “I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly.” It was because her body was too bootylicious.

  34. Shishido looked down at his toast and scowled. It was plain, which was better than having butter on it, but there was no jam anywhere to be seen. Frustrated, he glanced up and down the table until–there. The small rack of different jams.

But because his luck seemed to be against him, it was entirely out of his reach; there was no one near the jam close enough to pass it to him. Yet he didn’t even have to glance at Choutarou, who was sitting two seats down, and the much larger teen had leaned as far as he could and used his reach to grab just the pot Shishido wanted.

“Thanks,” he murmured, trying to think nothing of the fact that Choutarou knew exactly what type of jam he took on his toast.

  35. peanut butter. My father says it wrong – not peanut butter and jelly; he says jelly and peanut butter. We say it’s the Yankie in him, but really I think it’s just his idiosyncrasies. Making jelly with Grammy, purple grape mush everywhere feels like home.

    by Julie on 06.06.2012
  36. the stuff that makes a peanutbutter sandwich that much better. also called jam. a great thing to write about… i really have no clue what to put down… this is kind of a random word… >.<

  37. Jelly. I’m not very fond of it, but if it was already put on my peanut butter sandwich, I guess I have no choice but to eat it. I used to like jelly, but all of a sudden I just hated it.

    by Tia Alex on 06.06.2012
  38. Peanut butter has the best flavor with jelly just like men and women. One is representatibve of the others character. A man’ flatters his wife, and vice versa.

  39. Are you jelly of my extremely amazing writing capabilities? I can stun people with a myriad number of fascinating fantasies all found in four or five simple words. Simply amazing. I am simply amazing.
