Cowardice is not the absence of bravery, but the opposite of naivety.

You’re not a coward because you’re scared of the pain. You’re not a coward because you tried to stop it.
You’re a coward because you gave in. You’re a coward because you gave up.

Not a nice word. I don’t like it, anyway. It seems like it’s used to get to people, and I feel like that makes them the coward. It’s so accusatory.

Young boys that don’t stand up to the class bully are made to feel as if they are a coward. Truth is, they are just acting out of a rational reaction.

I played the lion in the Wizard of Oz. Talk about the classic coward! He was afraid of many things, including his own tail. In the end, however, he proved, ironically enough, to be brave when he needed to be and led the group in endeavors he previously thought were impossible.

A coward sleeps outside the shop, cold and alone, dressed in a fur coat and speaking in a language of unknown civilisations, broken and tired. He doesn’t want us to pity him, but we can’t help but do so. He barks knowingly.

“You’re a coward,” she said. Her wimple blew softly in the wind. Then, before he could speak, she jumped. The rest of the congregation- mothers, fathers, children- they followed soon after.

I tremble at the thought. I turn away. Afraid to look. My palms sweating, I nervously try to go to my happy place inside. I fear that I’m a coward. I fear only that.

You’re afraid of your own shadow. On a windy night, creaks and squeaks make you jump out of your own skin. Will you ever be a real man, or will you continue to be fun of by those who know of your dirty little secret.

Sadly such is my cowardice. I run and hide then run some more, afraid that I may be ignored. Or worse, that I may be exposed, because I run to where no one knows. I am simply a coward.

this reminds me of severus snape. in book 6, harry potter calls him coward after he kills dumbledore. snape takes great offense to it as harrys dad used to bully him using that name. the truth is, he is one. i HATE snape.

I wonder immediately when I have been a coward. I suppose all the time I tried to be anything other than exactly who I was. Perhaps cowardliness isn’t so much action and behavior as it is conviction.

They were screaming at me, like it was my title. Somehow everything I had worked for…for what? To be declared a coward in front of the very people I love, the very people I did this for? No, that is not who I am.

My cousin is a coward. She participates in ignoring me along with my mother and pretends like she doesn’t know what’s going on when I confront her about it. She hasn’t talked to me in weeks–I referred to her as a coward a few days ago so I thought it was perfect to talk about her in this posting. She’ll probably continue hiding and I’ll have to be the one to initiate conversation. Ugh.

Run away. That’s all you do. You can’t face your fears even if you tried. You need to grow up. If you never face your fears, you never grow. And that is why you never get anywhere.

We are all cowards. The word cow is in coward. This freewriting thing is harder than I thought. No one some of my students don’t last the full time. I wonder if they would like this site. Okay, I’m supposed to be writing about coward. When have I been a coward? Many times. Today, for example. I couldn’t muster up the courage to go into school. Why? I’m afraid of the chaos of school.

Coward is the name you give to your ex-boyfriend, to your friend, to yourself. It’s the name that mostly we attach to other people for their fear of being let down, fear of failing, fear of being disappointed, or just the fear of trying.

UUuu, scary!! Cowards who can’t take decisions, who are not straightforward with who they are, cowards who are just not able to take risks for themselves or no one

Look at you.
You look pale, thin, and drained of life. Aren’t you scared of what you’ve become? Obscure, Devoid of wit and interest. Aren’t you the one who hides underneath—a cowardly notion—your dead lover’s skirt every time she asked more of you?

There is a fine line between cautiousness and cowardice. I think I’ve crossed that fine line. I always doubt myself. Why do I do that? I know I have the ability to do anything, but for some reason, I don’t trust myself with anything. I could’ve been so great, but my insecurities hinder me from achieving what I should be.
