I don’t believe that I have ever actually been starving. I have been hungry but never starving. When I hear about other places in the world where people are regularly starving I think I understand but I know I really don’t.

Why does my pencil not mark at this moment? Of all the moments, it had to come down to this. How did it come down to one ballot? How did it come down to mine?

He knew that this day would come, the day that he would lose the love of his life. Being timeless, ageless — it is more painful than ever, now. He didn’t want to say a word as he stood at the pulpit, much less say something in front of people who never knew Maddox like he did.

Izzy never thought that she would have to be giving an eulogy for her baby brother, Max. Never thought that someone so innocent, so loving, so young, could be taken away from her family in an instant by someone so horrifying as Sebastian — as Valentine’s son.

She had a dog that was small and brown, quite plain and stubborn. It used to leave faeces near the bottom of the path next to my house, and I used to stand in it. I didn’t like that dog.

She peered through the glass, frowning when she could hardly see anything. After a moment, she rubbed at it with her sleeve, the clothes still heavy and unfamiliar, but it did very little good; she still couldn’t see properly through it. The cloudiness must have been on the other side, or perhaps between the panes of reinforced glass.

Ishida Uryuu liked to sew. Everyone knew that. It was also a well known fact that his least favourite thing to sew was buttons. Not many people knew, however, that his absolute favourite thing to sew was patches. Particularly when nobody noticed that they were there.

Ulquiorra liked to hang from the rafters.

It wasn’t something that he told people about. It wasn’t something that would ever come up in conversation, really.

Until Orihime – the woman, not Orihime – until the woman tilted her head, and asked innocently, “If your resurreccion is a bat, then do you hang upside down?”

The boy was stalling when he heard that he was to take a bath. He was a very stinky kid who hated baths. However, for all his stalling the boy had to take a bath and wash himself very well with lemon and lavender soap. Then after he got out of the bath, he tried stalling to get out of doing his homework for English class. The stalling technique he used got him nowhere again so he had to do his English homework, regretfully. He tried stalling again so he wouldn’t get in trouble for breaking his mother’s precious Japanese vase while he was throwing a tantrum about his English homework. He however, did not stall when it was time for dessert. He absolutely loved dessert time and for dessert time, he got a large slice of chocolate brownie cake which was his favorite.

The three of them stood in the garden, and watched the streamers fall all around. The little boy gripped her hand, and she swiped the other over his face. This was not a time to cry. It was not a time to cry.
They had put posters advertising his execution on the poles. Photos of his severed head had passed from person to person. She’d been handed one just an hour ago, and it was crushed, sweaty and wrinkled between her fingers.
“And a joyful day to you!” Called the vender as he dashed past her, and she inclined her head again. She glanced down at the photo, then at the boy beside her.
“Joyful indeed” She shouted after him, almost a scream and tears in her voice “My husband’s so joyful he’s downright lost his head!”
Someone tugged her inside, and she collapsed, sobbing against the unknown body. There was joys in the streets, and tears in her eyes.

There’s always damage. Every decision you make. Every person you talk to. Every step. It all cascades down that infamous slippery slope toward an ending you could never have expected. There are always consequences, always damage. You can’t avoid it. You can’t run from it or mitigate it or predict it. All you can do is hope that some good comes of it as well.

The gentlemen sit like ghosts at the table. They always have. Their hands are statues and their faces frozen. They wear suits and coats of the sort that no one has made in decades. No one knows why they’re their exactly. Parents bring their children to the table to see the gentlemen, sit them at the foot of the great statues. They always bring them home quickly though. No one likes to hang around the gentlemen too long. No one ever has. It’s rumored that they move.

Sometimes, I look out the wonder and dream I can fly.
If only I had wings, I wonder aloud to my inner child.
If only I were light as a bird, with hollow bones and a tiny, fast-beating heart.
If only I were a bat, with leathery wings spanning out of my back like sails on a boat, catching the wind and carrying me up, up, up and away.
If only.

If only she had waited. If only she had been patient, sitting still for more than five seconds. If only she had taken a calming breath.
Then her knee wouldn’t have been jiggling, her foot wouldn’t have been tapping, and she wouldn’t have missed it when he walked in the door.
If only.
But you can’t live your life on “if”.

I think of french people and big hats but maybe these are feathers the man is fat and so is the lady and I think they are okay with that because they are old (not by our standards but by theirs) and also homely (by our standards and theirs) and I also read this and first started writing about plums. I think I wasn’t supposed to delete the part about plums but I did.

Facial reconstruction – words no one wants to hear from an emergency room doctor. Selina didn’t remember how she got here, but from the conversations around her she realized that she was in a terrible accident. But no one said car, and she was walking back from the store.

God, it’s just like it always is with us. You and I sit staring at one another, me with a goofy grin on my face and you with some kind of falsely mirrored expression that I’m meant to accept to mean you’re on the same page. You never are though. I can tell by the way your footsteps echo through the house, wilting.

My arms beat at the shapes of clothing
Ripping and tearing and darkening
Spraying false years on.
Songs and silences cannot convey all
But with the visual representations of your fears
Your hardships
And your hunger
The greyscale story tells itself

She captivated her audience with the sultry tones in her voice and the wickedly sensuous look in her eye. The men would oogle and aww at her sheerly covered breasts while they had thoughts of touching themselves to her. They were utterly captivated.

Festive lights adorned the small shack, blinking in time to a mad, silent conductor. The wooden door, hanging slight ajar, let out the smell of cookies, cinnamon, and love.

Tumble is a word when you think someone rolls from one place to another. Like tumbling into bed or out of it. and tumbling out of the car in a fit of undress or state of unreadiness. Tumble is an informal word, which writers like to use in stead of leaving…

In pairs they ran thorugh the streets. The followed the great pair of red socks until they stopped. They didn’t noticed. They walked right into the man. The man turned, looked at them, and said two words; “Look away…”

The world is flat,
Years ago that was “truth”,
My heart is at flatline,
Will time fix that wrong too?

My cardiovascular system is strained,
My mental system is over worked,
All of my systems are drained.

The features of your face are the most drastically perfect ones I’ve ever seen.

The features of my face are plain and nondescript,

Like your attitude towards me.

You won’t be my visitor anymore. You left my life, and you’ll continue to leave my mind. One bit at a time. Just like you entered it. Goodbye. Farewell. I love you.
