Even after so many times, I can’t seem to forget.
This has to be the hundred time I put up with this
But if anyone were to tell me to leave
I couldn’t because out of all the time
We put up with thee
Thinking so much about the time we had.
Most would forget like it was trash
But I know it was more than mats.
At least try to put up with that.

It’s never easy being the last one picked.
David, he’s always the first one. Who can blame him? He’s huge.
But it really gets me that Alex is picked before me – I mean, he’s not good at this game, know what I mean?
So why am I always last? I hate how they just look at me with their finger raised but afraid to say my name.
I hate football at recess. I really do.

the lights swayed wildly from side to side, the noise of a train running through the house was terrifying and we had no clue what was going on. We couldn’t even walk down the stairs due to the violent shaking of the earthquake, the single largest event to destroy a city in a hundred years.

“… and that’s why its called the ozone.” The teacher paused in his lecture, seeing a few of his students not paying attention. The middle aged man sighed knowing if he were to singled them out for questioning, none of them would be able to answer. Well maybe at least one or two would be able to answer but those were the students that could afford to ignore him.

what a concept; “adults get school holidays and kids to go to work”. The world would be a happier place if children had a hand in making key decisions affecting our lives and our world.

“Hands down!” my mother used to say.
So down they went.
To this day, I still pause at that crucial moment before touching something shiny on the shelf of the department store.
Thanks, mother. I’ll never be the same.

As she walks down the stairs, she is hit, assaulted. Not by human actions, but by human decisions. And she trembles, scared of what she has done, what her life is now. Assaulted by the realization of who she will become, she screams at the top of her soul. Hoping to be heard, hoping to be recognized, she pleads with the will of a thousand waves to turn back time, to turn back to nothing. She chose to be free, but her body wanted to be bound. She chose life, but her body wanted to die. Conflicted and confused, wondering if these stairs will ever end, She runs with all strength, with all of her being. And as she reaches the last step, she stops, she holds her breath. She picks up a pen and fights back. She fights back against these parasites, these old dirty men, these 50 year old hypocrites. She is now free.

there was a sharp sound coming from the piano which I thought sounded odd. I pressed the note and it sounded out of tune, off key. Strange since the piano was tuned yesterday. Then I decided to look closer and found a lost key lying against the strings which made it sound out of key.

there were no words to describe the terrible losses from the earthquake, people injured, killed, lives destroyed in seconds of tumultuous upheaval. The lingering effects of aftershocks keep reminding us of our vulnerability to future losses, it’s a wonder we can continue at all

We have some lovely cherry cabinets in our kitchen.
They remind of the time when I was about 3 or 4 when my dad got a job as a cabinet maker. He didn’t do too well. He finally got another job in journalism, which he is much better at.

the instructions were in russian and I just did not pay attention in class so the only way to defuse this bomb was to tie it to my dog and let him run after the cat down the road. He ran like mad, turned the corner, I heard a squeal and then it all went quiet……..

The scout patrol planned their weekend camp and menu…… beans for breakfast, lunch and dinner seemed to be the staple diet. Full of excitement with little understanding of practical realities of what’s involved, they were all action, Fire….Ready…. Aim!!

I was often reminded of the disturbing qualities of a yoga class. But come on, what more can you expect from a professional stretcher? I’m paying someone to help me bend back and forth. At least I was able to join the class with the most yoga pants booties.

My favorite subject is science. I think it is because of my ninth grade biology teacher. I had never really been that into a certain subject, but something about that class just made me love the subject. I loved the challenge and the great feeling of finally accomplishing somethign really complex.
