Henry hoped he could survive the fall. Deep down he knew it was illogical to worry about it, it was after all only about five foot. He was scared though. That’s what a phobia is – an irrational fear. He watched Toby jump preparing himself to be next.

You and I must fight for our rights. You and I must fight to survive.
This word has lost its meaning to us.
Survive. Hell, that’s waking up at 6, fumbling for your glasses in the dark, and then methodically tripping over your bed like you do every morning. That’s what we call surviving now; simply going through the motions of that 24 hour period we call a day.
We need to appreciate more.

Henry chased Tony up the stairs. He ran across the roof garden and stood at the edge. Henry followed him getting closer and closer. ‘There’s nowhere left to go now Tony’. Tony looked down and contemplated his options.

Wine. In vino veritas. Either the greatest aphrodisiac invented or the worst form of mouthwash invented. The color is quite interesting; not quite a velvet violet, but not really a crystalline purple. Don’t know what you call it.

she applied lip balm for the hundredth time that day. She wondered if she had any hope of the dryness going down before she saw Tony later. He’d know what she’d been up to and she wasn

One of my clearest memories from my childhood was this little incident with lip balm. My mother was (is still unfortunately) very much old fashioned. The rule around the house was that I was not to even TOUCH lip balm, lip gloss, and the like until I was 12, and being the little obedient girl (am still, to an unfortunate extent), I didn’t have it within me to challenge her.
I recall one time when I was six, I felt ever-so-daring and uncapped the little white lid to a lemon lip balm stick. Even now, the tangy lemon scent comes rushing back through the years to assuage my senses. It was the first rule of many I dared defy, and probably the most satisfying to a little attention-starved girl.

I peered over Jessica’s shoulder to see the tiny remnants of the paper cradled in her hands. “Pretty. How’d you learn to make it?”
“This little crane? I don’t remember. I think it was my grandmother that showed me, way back in China.”

The modern hat he was wearing surprised her. She hadn’t thought that would be what he was like, his advert hadn’t given that impression at all. She felt old fashioned now in her brown long skirt, she should have worn jeans!

Tim’s collision into Sally turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to him. Luckily she was fine, just a grazed knee, but one look at him and she didn’t even feel the pain. Three years and two children later he thinks daily how it was the best mistake of his life.

“it’s easier to ask forgiveness than permission,” Susan thought as she slipped out the door. Closing it softly so as not to wake anyone, she looked up to the stars that seemed to be spilling over with hope
