Jump and giggle and giggle. Her red sneakers squeaked on the gym floor while everyone laughed. No, kidding–she stretched and so did her smile.

manager

He leaned over my shoulder, his breath stank like the bottom of a garbage truck. I hated the new manager. He was a joke that only we workers got. When everything went smoothly, it wasn’t because of him–it was sheer luck.

level

I knew he wasn’t telling me the truth the moment his eyes flicked to the left. His eyebrow twitched and his month straightened into a line. Nope, he wasn’t leveling with me at all.

boiling

It was hot, really hot. Boiling. Temperature and tempters flared. The knife was bloody in my hand, then I threw it down. What had I done?

thunder

Thunder. Sometimes you crack, other times you rumble. You’re only seldom heard without your sister, Lightning. Why so angry all the time? Are you always the bridesmaid, never the bride? Or perhaps you’re the middle child, wanting to be heard.

skeleton

Skeletons in the closet. Dry and brittle yet with so much potential and uncertainty. Will it be harmful to release them? Or, a non-event? Does the past matter that much

ticket

I got a bus ticket. I sat in the lobby and waited. And watched. All the people coming and going. With all their miscellaneous belongings. How would it all ever fit on the bus?

violet

Violet. She never liked the name. It was like doubling the pain of first impressions. She never thought of herself as a delicate flower. And the colour just seemed claustraphobic. Nevermind that, as a name, it was one consonant short of an

plague

Plagues were written in the Old Testament drought, frogs, flies, famine, blood in the water, Read the Bible. The book of Exodus speaks about plagues. Interesting facts. to read about. Plagues can happen today. Read the Bible and learn about the first plagues. Hopefully we don’t have to go through any plagues in our days. I’m not sure what we would have for a plague today if we had one.

Death and destruction left in the wake. Mothers and children and fathers suffer. The darkness. The loss. Too heavy to comprehend. Man reaches the place in time where we all give up. There is nothing that can be done.

antlers

Reindeer have these. So do elk and a few other creatures. They are usually intense animals that have these and antlers demand respect for who would want to mess with antlers?! People hang them on their walls as a prize, if you will. Here, still, they demand respect for both the hunted and the hunter. I know there is a simple difference between antlers and horns but at this moment I cannot remember what it is.

rise

All rise. The judge enters the courtroom. Her son is called before the judge to state his position: guilty, or not guilty? She holds her breath and works her fingers against the grain of the fabric belt on her floral cotton dress.

montage

I think of photo montages. The kind where you’re with your friends at a party and you decide that a photo shoot should happen. The pictures sometimes don’t make sense and sometimes they’re far too serious for the situation but every time they end up on facebook and you have too many pictures to remember a night. There’s always one that would work.

wander

To just live, go wherever you want, live free, be free, do what you want anytime you want. Just start walking and see where you end up, take a wrong turn, do down a street you never have been on before. Let your mind do what it wants, relax.

obsessed

Obsessed. A word I could never spell, ha.

Obsessed with the thought of you, with your sweet, faint scent of sweat. With the feel of your soft, warm face against the palm of my hand… there’s nothing I want more than us. But will that hold me back? What will I give up? What am I WILLING to give up? I want to say anything, but when I think of all I want to do and everyone I think I should please, it’s so tough….

understood

Is a very misenterpreted word at times. People have different defenitions and personal meanings when it comes to fully “understanding” a topic. It really depends on the person you’re asking. Some people are very complex minded, and will fully push the subject until they have sucked up every morsel of info they could muster. While others don’t feel the need to delve that deep into a subject and would rather skim the surface and be satisfied with the simplest of meanings.

tide

Rushing. Cooling. Refreshing. Blessing…God made tides as treasures; as is true of all that He made, really. How infrequently we stop to think of things in this way.

Detours mean change and you should be flexible in life so that when you see the detour sign it doesnt stress you out. and you might just enjoy seeing places you never thought you would, or never had the time to see before.

deny

She denied me my piece of cake and I was so hurt. I was the next in line but what did she do but look past me to the kid in the red jacket. It made me so mad that I turned the table over denying anyone else in line a piece of cake and ran out of the room. It’s seems I am always being denied what is due me. I sat on the curb and even denied myself the tears that wanted to spill down my dirty face. So I stood up wiped my grimy hands on my even grimier pants and went looking for the next line I could stand in.
